  2. WHAT IS THE PERSONAL PROJECT? The Personal Project is the culminating experience of the MYP, similar to the PYP Exhibition and the DP Extended Essay The Personal Project is an opportunity for students to produce a truly personal and often creative product/outcome to demonstrate their learning in the MYP Students are able to base their Personal Project on a topic that genuinely interests them

  3. THIS YEARS PERSONAL PROJECT TOPICS Sailing Dog training Sustainability Interior design Cerebral palsy Chinese Revolution Climate change Greek mythology Coding ADHD Golf courses Culture and fashion

  4. WHO WILL COMPLETE THE PERSONAL PROJECT? The Personal Project is mandatory for all Y11 students who have participated in the MYP for a minimum of one academic year.

  5. WHAT ARE THE OBJECTIVES? The Personal Project objectives relate directly to the assessment criteria. There are four objectives as outlined on page 7 of the Student Guide

  6. PHASES OF THE PERSONAL PROJECT The four objectives reflect the four phases/stages of the Personal Project: Investigating Planning Taking Action Reflecting The Student Guide is designed to support students through each of these phases

  7. HOW IS THE PERSONAL PROJECT ASSESSED? The criteria can be found on pp.70-73 COMPONENT PRODUCT PROCESS JOURNAL REPORT HOW IT IS ASSESSED AGAINST CRITERIA Ci APPENDICES OF REPORT (SUPPORTING EVIDENCE) AGAINST ALL CRITERIA

  8. PERSONAL PROJECT SCHEDULE The schedule can be found on pp. 2-4 of the Student Guide PRODUCT: Monday 5th November 2018 REPORT: Tuesday 19th February 2019 EXHIBITION: Tuesday 12th March 2019

  9. MYP COORDINATOR + STUDENT GUIDE As the MYP Coordinator and Personal Project Coordinator, I oversee the process and students know that I am always available for support I have designed the Student Guide as a step-by-step support through the process

  10. TEACHER SUPERVISOR Each student will be assigned a teacher supervisor, who will be available during the process to offer advice and guidance The supervisors will help by: Advising students on whether they are undertaking an achievable project Helping create a schedule for completing the project Discussing the global context and topic to ensure they complement each other Meeting to discuss and review progress Advising should any part of the project present difficulties

  11. HOW CAN PARENTS SUPPORT? Students are encouraged to collaborate with you, their friends, and other adults/specialists in order to gain a broader range of ideas, skills, and knowledge to apply to their product/outcome Talk to your son/daughter regularly about their ideas and progress and offer advice when necessary Be aware of the deadlines for the product, report and exhibition Provide the materials that they will need to complete the project
