  2. Introduction Rosario is 1 year and 4 months old, she was the youngest of 4 children. She was sickly and contracted measles. She lived in a slum area at Tanyong in a city of Malabon. A 5 hectare area land with 1, 850 families. Only 10% of the household had a toilet and the remaining 90% directly disposed human waste into the river. 90 % fetched water in the artesian well and pay 15-30 pesos per gallon. None of the families owned a house. A rent for small room was 500- 1000 pesos and a bigger room was 1500-2000 pesos.

  8. Determinants of health Lucy, Rosario s mother wasn t able to do breastfeeding. Therefore Rosario received inappropriate feeding, she only had condensed milk. She was malnourished and at risk of respiratory infection. When she contracted measles she did not have medication from public health center. The trails to the houses were made of woods and it was common for children to accidentally fall in the black water. The drinking water was from the artesian well of the community.   10. Determinants of health Rosario s parents were a highschool graduate and 3rd grader. They did not know the proper child caring. They also lacked basic knowledge. Lucy, Rosario s mother believed that the worms aid in digestion. They weren t able to afford to support continuous medication of Rosario due to financial constraint. On the other hand, the supposed immediate help like essential medication/ basic treatment from public health center was not available. The budget allocated for medical supplies are not funded to the barangay health center because of misallocation of money. ELEMENT OF PRIMARY HEALTH CARE BASIC SANITATION AND ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF SAFE WATER BASIC SANITATION AND ADEQUATE SUPPLY OF SAFE WATER Lack of proper sanitation and safe water has forced the villagers to Buy water from entrepreneur selling water from two deep wells in the village at the rate of 15-30 pesos per 5 gallons. Only 10% has water pipes available at the households. Use the nearby river to get rid of human waste EFFECTS IN THE COMMUNITY: HOW CAN IT HELP? Establishing proper sanitation and water will enable villagers Water comes from improved and more accessible sources Prevention from parasitic infections and water related diseases, especially to children Incur less medical costs due to water related health diseases, as a result able to afford preventative care such as vaccinations Allow these low-income families to save up from having to buy water Overall better health and longer-term consequences

  13. ELEMENT OF PRIMARY HEALTH CARE EDUCATION EDUCATION Insufficient knowledge of the proper child rearing and low social status of the parents leads to deprivation of receiving proper nutrition. In fact poor understanding of the common basic aspect of a healthy lifestyle leads to sickness and disease. A low income status hinder individual to access in the expensive health care EFFECTS IN THE COMMUNITY: HOW CAN IT HELP? Educating parents adds value to their life, it increase the way of thinking on the betterment of the family. Proper taking care of the children and providing them affordable yet nutritious food. Teaching the correct way of hygiene, and other aspect of life change their norms and eventually they become more aware of beneficial and healthy things that they need to have.

Under this is the production of essential drugs that satisfy the health needs of the population available at all times at all dosage form EFFECTS IN THE COMMUNITY: Availability of the essential drugs in all health centers reduce the rate of prolonged sickness. It immediately alleviates the symptoms of the diseases that are preventable. On the other hand families in lower social status will have easily access in any of these medication needed without the fear of thought where to and how to get drugs. It reduce the fear of going to health centers and think for the expenses. Because the medicine supplies in centers are cheap or mostly free of charge. This on the long run can achieve the goal of WHO of health care for ALL. HOW CAN IT HELP?

The lack of knowledge in parents and awareness on the benefits of immunization , the number of vaccine their child need to receive, site and schedule, side effects and contradiction. Parents are not significantly aware of benefits of immunization and risk of its lack or refusal as well as access to local information on child immunization activities EFFECTS IN THE COMMUNITY: HOW CAN IT HELP? Vaccination is one of the cost effectiveness child survival interventions which is practiced throughout the world. Immunization saves 2-3 million lives each year by protecting children against serious disease. Vaccines plays a central role in ending preventable child deaths. Exploring the type of social determinants affecting immunizations. Effort in various countries is one of the great importance to the ability of nations to address them, prevent the spread of disease and lower mortality rate.

Widely dissemination of knowledge about the common diseases and injuries with known treatment build the community to have a access to the treatment available in the nearest public health centers or private. It reduce the numbers of neglected medication of diseases and increase the numbers of cases receiving the treatment. HOW CAN IT HELP? Medical therapies effort to cure or improve a disease or other health problems. Thes common diseases like allergies, headache, colds and flu, conjunctivitis , diarrhea and etc. these can be prevented through a variety of means like sanitation, proper nutrition, adequate exercise, vaccination and public health measures

It work addresses both universal and targeted approaches that promote protective factor resilience in their early life for a quality health EFFECTS IN THE COMMUNITY: HOW CAN IT HELP? Primary health care workers should more efficiently to maintain MHC with the help of government health department. THey should educate the mother with proper hygiene and diet for the child in the early genes

Along with lack of health services, poor roads, isolation, degraded soil and limited access to clean water, the community health is also affected by political economy, violence, corruption and cultural traditions. HOW CAN IT HELP? World Neighbors works alongside families, accompanying them on the road towards well-being, working to reduce child malnutrition, maternal and child mortality and the effects of preventable infectious diseases. Their goal is to work with the community to integrate their need for improved agricultural production, improved nutrition, income generation and good health. Building capacity and continuous focus on the inclusion of all groups is essential in the village developmental process to improve health in the community.
