WHO WERE THE
SUFFRAGETTES
 
At the turn of the 20
th
 century men had a
right to vote but women did not.
 
Some women were unhappy with this
situation they decided to change things.
FIGHTING FOR CHANGE
The fight for the right to vote  was
known to be the suffragette
movement.
The suffragettes were a group
fighting for women’s rights.
WHAT THE SUFFRAGETTES
WORE
The suffragettes wore the colours
purple, white and green and
made banners and sashes with the
words votes for women written on
them.
Purple was dignity, white was for
purity and green was for hope.
WHEN DID IT ALL END
 
The suffragettes fought really hard and
in 1918 8.4 million women were given
the right to vote.

The Suffragettes were a courageous group advocating for women's right to vote at the turn of the 20th century. Wearing purple, white, and green, they made banners declaring "Votes for Women." Their efforts led to 8.4 million women gaining the right to vote in 1918.
