Reflecting on a Project Journey: City of the Future to Sumobots
Exploring the transition from a grand City of the Future project to diving into Sumobots, this journey involved planning, execution, learning coding skills, highs of tournament victories, and lows of project adjustments. Balancing group dynamics and individual challenges, the final shift to Sumobots was a strategic decision for a fulfilling outcome.

2018 City of the Future/Sumobots BY: LOGAN SAVOY
Ideas and Pre Planning The original idea was the City of the Future Challenge. It didn t work out. I created a basic city design in Tinkercad The project didn t really get past the planning stage
Planning and Execution We received 36 foam squares from Brilliant Labs. Originally thought they were supposed to be used to represent roads as well as buildings. Decided on using 3D Printed and recyclable materials as construction materials. Project fell through at this point.
Sumobot Decision Decided to help Tanner out with the Sumobot project since it was lacking members. Helped code the line following bot on the way to the tournament. Won the line following competition.
Information and Skills that I learned Learned basic STAMP coding, and how to modify the speed of a motor using the STAMP editor, also learned how to modify a Sumobot s code to make it follow a line.
High and Low Points One of the high points was going to the Sumobot tournament. Another high point was figuring out how to make the Sumobot follow a black line while cramped in a Kia Soul. One of the Low points was making the decision to scrap the City of the Future Challenge. Another Low point was losing the Sumobot fighting tournament.
Final Thoughts I may have bitten off more than I could chew with the city of the future project, it was more of a group project rather than a single person project. Even with Vincent and Lasse's help I was struggling to keep up with the pace I needed to be at for the project. The Sumobot choice was likely for the best.
