  7. Here is a Case to consider A parent decides not to vaccinate her 2-month old infant. At 3 months old the infant has a persistent, whooping cough. o This can be prevented if the infant received the vaccine o Here is a link to a video on YouTube that shows a child with whooping cough (pertussis).   9. Decision Making Now that you have seen that video showing an infant with a diagnosis of pertussis struggling to breathe, the decision to vaccinate your infant may be a little easier. You have the parental power to prevent this vaccine preventable disease and other vaccine preventable diseases such as Tetany (lockjaw), diphtheria, polio, rotavirus (which can be a very severe diarrhea infection), meningitis (which can affect brain development and may lead to death) hepatitis B, and as your infant reaches his/her first birthday, measles (both german measles and 3-day measles, mumps, and chickenpox, BY HAVING YOUR INFANT VACCINATED ON TIME DURING INFANCY AND THROUGHOUT CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE
