  7. Game Day Meals Football Jason s Deli 9 games Basketball coaches will decide their meal when the time comes. Not mandatory. If you bring a meal, then drop it off in front office by 3:25 pm with the athletes name on the bag/box.

  13. Grooming Hairstyles and clothing should not be disruptive Make up is disruptive No facial hair No earrings during athletic period, practice, and athletic events

  14. grooming Hair shall be out of the eyes and off the collar. Hair is a small sacrifice. Hair shall not call attention to the athlete. High hair, colored streaks, shaved in designs, man buns , etc. Hair shall be a natural color. We desire that your athlete stand out due to his behavior, attitude, and exceptional play.

  15. accessories All compression or under clothing must be WHITE for games. No visors (except with Dr. note) No single shooting sleeves or leggings Shoes WESTER colors. No wristbands or bracelets (provided) No long-sleeved shirts for basketball Athletes stand out for their attitude, behavior, & exceptional play.

  18. Social media / cell phones NO cell phones in the locker room. Coaches will not friend athletes on facebook, twitter, instagram, etc. While at games and on the bus, athletes will put phones away and support fellow Wildcats! #1 source of lawsuits in schools today!

  21. Operations Fee All students enrolled in athletics are required to pay the fee. Due by Sept 1. XC/Track/Soccer due by 1st scheduled contest $100 per athlete / per year in MS Why? Revenues have not kept up with travel, official, game workers, etc. TRE did not pass Keeps FISD from cutting programs for athletes.

  22. Spirit Wear All done on-line through the PTO ! We will do a Wester Boy s athletic t-shirt. It will be done on-line and paid for on Pay Pal.

  23. The Role of Middle School Athletics Fundamental Skills Discipline and Responsibility Give great EFFORT We feed the CHS athletic system. We will use the CHS terminology CHS coaches at WMS practices We are their future and they care about your athlete.

  24. What we provide All equipment is provided by Wester excepts shoes and practice socks. All shoes are expected to be Wester colors Red, White, Gold, Black, Grey All practice socks shall be WHITE crew socks. Every athlete, every day Uniform means one form

  25. Practice 1st day of school 7:30 am (FB) All other days 6:45 am start time!! Athletic area doors open at 6:30. a.m Being late will result in consequences. If a player is in attendance at school, he will be expected to be at practice! Injured or players not feeling well are expected to dress out and participate in practice mentally. Different sports may have different arrival times.

  27. FB Practice Sat, Aug 26th Why? Time 8:30 am to 9:45 am (social after) UIL regulations / player eligibility Buffer so your athlete is eligible to play vs Roach in game #1. Attendance is expected just like any other practice. Parent Volunteers for after practice social ; Fruit, hydration, etc.

  28. Practice If a player is not going to be at practice he must call/email the head coach prior to practice time or bring a note. If absent from or not participating in practice more than 2 consecutive days, he musthave a doctor s/CHS trainer s note Please, try to make doctor s appointments for after school. Injured players may make an appointment with CHS trainers to evaluate injuries.

  29. Practice If you are injured you still have a role on our team you are expected to come to practice, dress out and participate mentally 7 of 10 tutoring opportunities are available each week in addition to the 3 advisory tutoring days. Only exception is a make test that can ONLY be given in the am. MUST bring a note from the teacher the day before.

  30. Equipment Use All of Wester s football equipment is inspected and certified on a yearly basis. If you decide to buy your own helmet and/or shoulder pads you will have to donate them to Wester until the end of the 8th grade football season. They will be inspected and certified like the rest of the equipment. Must fill out a waiver, too.

  31. Cleanliness Everyone will shower after all a.m. workouts. Combo shampoo/soap recommended Deodorant PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!! Towels (BYOT!) Athletes workout cloth is washed daily. Football uniforms washed by individual family. If you ruin it, replacement cost will be charged. Shower Shoes highly recommended. No aerosol sprays (TAG, AXE, etc) No glass

  32. Injuries All injuries must be reported to supervising coach; please DO NOT go to the nurse first. If an individual has any special medical problems make sure the coaches are informed (Ex. asthma, diabetes, etc.) Should an injury be discovered after a participant has returned home, email the head coach and leave a message. Know the difference between a little pain and an injury If you are coming to school, you are expected to attend practice!!

  33. Injuries If the athlete has not been evaluated by the doctor or our high school trainer, he will be expected to attend workout.   34. Nutrition / Hydration Drink body weight in water daily. Small meal prior to practice Must replenish after workouts Bring protein bar, breakfast bar, etc. to eat after practice. Electrolyte drinks recommended right after practice, NOT before.

  35. Game Day Dress Up on Game Days (head coach will discuss with his teams). EX: Football wears game day jersey Game Day Attendance all athletes are expected to attend school on game days. Athletes who receive behavioral ISS or Thursday Night school for behavior will be suspended for the next scheduled contest that season.

  36. Athletic Teams Football Two teams per grade (AB) / no cuts Basketball 3 teams per grade (ABC) / 10 on A- team; 10 on B-team; 15 on C-team Cross Country 1 team per grade / No cuts Track 1 team per grade / Self cuts Soccer 1 team per grade / 15-18 per team Tennis 1 Boys team / 1 girls team ; must be in beginning tennis and get approved to be moved to the advanced class by Coach Allen.

  37. 24 Hour Rule and Participation If an athlete quits a sport, he will be given an initial 24-hour grace period to return. If he quits again, they will not be allowed to participate until the following season. Quitting can become a habit. We encourage athletes to finish what they start. We want to encourage our student athletes to participate in as many sports and activities as they would like.

  38. Travel All Athletes are expected to ride the bus to and from athletic contests. Athletes are expected to stay after games and support each other. If a special circumstance exists, contact the head coach of the sport to discuss. Notification must be by 12:00 PM game day to the head coach of the sport Emergency situations

  39. Concession Stand NO concession stand trips between games or during a game for players. Sports drinks / water is allowed after the game for B-team players especially at the beginning of the year due to heat. Trashy EZ s will result in team Do Rights

  40. After Game Pick-Up Athletes are expected to be picked up within 15 min once the bus returns to Wester. Consistently tardy pick ups will receive consequences. Please do not park in the fire lanes as we drop our athletes off there. That is the safest place.

  41. Parental Role Be supportive of coaches. Teach respect for all authority. Let the Coach coach. Model sportsmanship at games. Help your child learn through failure. Listen to your child, but stay rational Be mindful of your role as a role model. Show unconditional love

  42. Conflict Resolution Player to coach Parent to coach Parent to AC and coach Parent to Mr. Kanzler (AP) Parent to Mr. Manuel If you email/phone a coach, please give a full 24 hours to respond.

  44. Player Rules Do RIGHT and be Wildcat TOUGH. Be TOUGH on field and in classroom. Be on time. Respect, Integrity, Service, & Excellence are the core values of Wester. Athletes will be held to a higher behavioral standard by the coaching staff

  45. Equipment Rules The school will loan each young man the equipment necessary to participate in football with the exception of shoes. The original equipment issued to you as a participant must be returned at the close of the season. If equipment needs repair or if you need a change in size, tell your coach immediately. You will be held responsible for any lost or misplaced equipment. Inspect your equipment daily to make sure everything is ok and fits properly. Payment for lost equipment will be expected before being allowed to participate in the next offered sport.

  46. Equipment Rules Never wear someone else s equipment. All equipment must be worn for each practice and game unless your coach tells you otherwise. No jewelry of any kind is to be worn on the field. All athletes will be given one set of workout cloth and Sweats. Workout cloth and sweats are to be worn during athletics only.
