  2. Athletics Overview Athletes: Expected to have good sportsmanship, pass all classes, good citizenship, follow all Code of Conduct and KISD Student Handbook Guidelines. Coaches: Expected to show professionalism, be knowledgeable in their sport, model positive character traits, and have open communication with athletes and parents. Parents: Expected to help show positive sportsmanship at games. Any questions/concerns please visit with the coach the day after a game. Committed to getting their athlete to all practices and upholding and respecting that school sports take a priority over outside sport commitments.

INCOMING 7thGRADERS: 2020 Doctors Physical print off of RankOne and have filled out by Doctor Medical History can either fill out electronically on RankOne or you can print out and turn in with physical. 4 Online forms to fill out via RankOne YOU MUST FILL THEM ALL OUT!   6. PAPERWORK & PHYSICALS ALL PHYSICALS & RANKONE PAPERWORK MUST BE COMPLETE AND TURNED IN BY MONDAY AUGUST 31st! We will begin IN CLASS (no before or after school) workouts starting Monday Aug. 31st. 1stday of CC practice and FB practice will be Tuesday, Sept. 8th.

  7. Remote vs In Person If you choose remote only you will have a schedule changed into a PE class and get a daily PE lesson/activity from a KISD remote PE teacher to complete at home. If you choose remote but still want to participate in Athletics You are responsible for your OWN transportation to and from practices. You MUST attend ALL in person tryouts & practices in order to tryout/play! Remote kids will NOT need to use the locker room as they will come to practice dressed and ready and leave practice to go home and will shower at home. 7thgrade practices are from 6:45am-8:50am & 8thgrade practices are from 3:00pm- 5pm. If you are not on a team, and or in our offseason, you will not need to arrive to school until 8:25 am If you choose in person normal schedule

  8. Uniforms Visit the Boys Titan athletic website for a link to A GREAT IDEA store for the optional uniform options. Register and order. Order closes Aug. 30th! Items will be delivered to TSMS for coaches to hand out in Mid-Late September. Grey t-shirt, black shorts, sweatshirt, sweatpants You can purchase our shorts or your own black shorts that are in compliance with the school dress code. You must wear either a TSMS shirt or a plain grey t-shirt. If you do not purchase our sweats then you must wear school colors Green, Black, Grey, or Yellow.

  9. Masks & Gaitors Per the County Guidelines, masks and/or gaiters will be required at ALL times. Once an athlete begins their workout/running they can take down their mask IF they choose to do so. They will be worn to and from gyms and IN the locker rooms at ALL times. Gaiters may be easier to use during sporting events/games/meets. They will need to be ON when on the sidelines, to and from, etc. Student choice to leave them on while they are playing/running or pull them down. Now offering a gaitor option on our Great Idea Website. I Highly suggest adding your athletes last name and/or putting their name on it yourself.

  10. Game Uniforms We provide all game uniforms for all sports PLEASE wait until final cuts have been made to buy specialty shoes/accessories for that sport! FB jerseys, helmet, shoulder pads, and pants will be provided all you will need to buy is your own cleats and mouthpieces BB jerseys, practice jersey, shooting shirts, and game shorts CC/Track running shorts and singlet Soccer jerseys, practice jersey, and shorts Wrestling wear your own singlet or school will provide you with one Swim/Dive wear your own suit It will be issued out to your athlete at the beginning of the season and turned in at the end of the season and FB/track/cc uniforms will be turned in after meets or games! Athlete s responsibility to wash BB/Soccer uniforms(cold water, no heat, air dry only) and bring uniform every game day If lost or damaged, athlete will be responsible for paying for a replacement

  11. Lockers/Locker Room Athletic Lockers have already been assigned and will be issued the first week of school. Locker Room Policy: we issue you the locker/combo and all equipment should be locked at ALL times, we are not responsible for lost/stolen items. 7thGrade has about 15 minutes to get ready daily. Practice! Showers: there are showers in the locker rooms and the athletes are expected to shower after offseason/practices Please provide your own toiletries and towels. DO NOT SHARE LOCKERS OR COMBOS WITH ANYONE!

  12. Sitting Out Mama Notes/Dr. Notes if your child is hurt or sick you can write a note for them to sit out of athletics. This will only last for 2 days. If they are still sick or injured, a Doctor s Note is required, or they will need to begin participating again. They are still required to dress out even when sitting out unless their injury prevents them from changing (ex: cast) All Dr. Notes will be followed

  13. Sports Offered Football (Aug-Nov) No cuts and 3 teams each grade Cross Country (Aug-Oct) No Cuts however the runners need to be able to run 2 miles without walking to go to meets Basketball (Nov-Feb) 3 teams each grade (30-35 each grade) Wrestling (Nov-Jan) No cuts but determined by weight classes Track (Feb-April) Best 3 in each event in each grade Soccer (April-May) 2 teams combo of 7th& 8th(20-30) Swim/Dive (April-May) Must be able to swim 100 meters without stopping-will be bussed to KISD Natatorium and parents pick up from there.

  14. Off-Season What it is: for those who are not participating in a current sport, the athletes will participate in running, weightlifting, agilities, plyometrics, & preparing for the next sport. When is it? During the Athletic class period only; 7th --1stperiod (8:30-9:15 am)& 8th--8thperiod (3- 3:45)

Game Nights FB & BB are C-B-A game order Football: Tuesdays Basketball: Mondays Track: Thursdays FB & BB are 5/6/7pm games will start early if preceding game ends early Bus transportation by coach to and from event CC: Wednesdays Soccer: Thursdays Swim: meets on Saturday Game Day Meals Fall Schedules will be updated with new dates ASAP. PARENTS must sign out their athlete with coach at the end of all games to take them home. Athletes need to be picked up PROMPTLY at the end of practice and also on game nights

  16. Football o Aug 26th/27th/28ththere will be NO before/after school practice. We will take care of paperwork/lockers/info these three days during the half days. o There are NO CUTS for football. If your athlete wants to play football, he will make one of our 3 teams (A, B, or C) o The first week of football will start on Sept. 8th and we will try to have your athlete placed on a team the following week. Practices for 7th grade will start at 6:15 am daily and 8thGrade athletes will practice from 4-5:30 pm. o 1stFB game 09/22

  17. Cross Country No cuts! Everyone can participate in practices; we will have time trials for athletes to qualify to attend the meets. Everyone runs TWO miles except for the 1stmeet is ONE mile. Wednesday meets-start at 5pm; rolling start Race Order: 8thBoys; 8thGirls; 7thBoys; 7thGirls TWO practice times to CHOOSE from! We suggest alternating to get adjusted to the weather in the AM and the heat in the PM. 7:15-8am OR 3:50-4:30pm 1stpractice on Tuesday September 8th Practices: Mon-Fri (NO PRACTICE ON MEET DAYS) 1stMeet: 09/23

Basketball Tryouts will occur in early November Basketball is a CUT SPORT and the following are what your athlete will be evaluated on (shooting form, layups, free throws, dribbling, and court drills) I will send out an email with more detailed BB tryout information in October to get ready for tryouts Off-season will start working on BB skills 2 days a week a few weeks before tryouts

  19. Wrestling Practices will start in November Based on weight classes More detailed info will be sent out in October in prep for the wrestling season Some meets are on a weeknight and some are on Saturdays.

  20. Track & Field Track starts in February I will send a detailed email regarding track in January Track meets start at 4:30pm and can last until 9 or 10pm, but athlete can sign out with a coach and leave when ALL of their events are complete. Running Events: 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1600m, 2400m, 100 & 300 hurdles, and relays Field Events: Pole Vault, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus

  21. Soccer Starts in April and is a CUT SPORT All practice is after school none during the class period 2 teams combo of 7th& 8thgraders A & B team Coach Ruiz and Coach Fraga will send out a detailed email regarding soccer tryouts in March

  22. Swimming/Diving Starts in April TCHS swim Coach Conn will send out a detailed swim/dive email in March Swim bus will take all athletes from TSMS to the KISD natatorium after school and parents will pick up athletes from the natatorium.

  23. First 3 Days of School Aug 26, 27, 28 Half Days We will NOT be working out the first 3 days of school, therefore all athletes will attend school at our normal start & end time and dressed in their normal school outfits. We will address any paperwork issues, issue lockers, and also discuss the football schedule and all that goes with playing football, cross country practice schedule, and off season schedule for upcoming weeks. We WILL begin working out during the class period only on Monday-Aug. 31st Once workouts begin, the athletes will be dressed in their OWN workout clothes until the uniform order arrives in September.

  24. First Day of Practices/Workouts 09/08/20 If your athlete is not playing Football on Tuesday, Sept 8th, then they will report to the gym at normal school time for their first or eighth period off-season. 7thGrade Athletes playing Football will need to be at the school at 6:15 am and 8thGrade Athletes playing Football will stay after school and practice 4-5:30 pm. Cross Country practices will begin on TUESDAY SEPT 8th! You have two choices of when to attend pick ONE each day! 7:15-8am OR 3:45-4:30pm.

Contact Info Please contact your child s coach FIRST; but please do not approach a coach immediately after a match/game/meet etc. Emotions are high for both coaches and parents and we ask that you wait until the next day to contact your coach to set up a time to talk We will NOT discuss playing time or other athletes, but we will discuss what your child can do to improve upon their skills Email is the best way to get ahold of us as we are always on the move between the classroom and the gym/field Please check the Boys Titan Athletic Website or SportsYou for TONS of important information, now and throughout the year
