ELIGIBILITY All incoming 7thGraders are eligible to participate for the Fall Sports Season All incoming 8thGraders, and beginning in the Winter Season (October), all 7thGraders, must meet the following requirements to be eligible: *Pass at least 5 classes and maintain at least a 1.0 grade point average According to OHSAA rules, an athlete CANNOT participate or practice with any other team during the calendar year According to OHSAA rules, an athlete may NOT participate in an athletic contest, tryouts or any type of team or group training or practices on or with a non-school squad in the same sport during the school s inter-scholastic season once an individual becomes a member of a school team
PHYSICALS Must have a valid Pre-Participation Physical Exam on the form provided by the Ohio High School Athletic Association Physicals are valid for one calendar year from the date of the exam Forms can be printed from the Greenbriar Athletic Website or www.ohsaa.org Pages 3 & 4 must be filled out completely, signed and dated by the doctor. ***These 2 pages are the only pages to be turned in to me*** Pages 1, 2, 5 & 6 will be completed electronically on Final Forms and do NOT need to be printed out. *Hometown Urgent Care (7715 W. Ridgewood Dr: 809-8132) offers sports physicals for $25.00 *Drug Mart (6476 York Rd: 845-6800) offers them for $39.00 without using your insurance
FINAL FORMS This is our new on-line system for filling out Athletic Forms All forms are completed here and will not be turned in Go to http://parma-oh.finalforms.com Click NEW ACCOUNT under the Parent Icon Type your NAME and EMAIL and then click Register Once a parent is done registering and signing all forms, click REGISTER STUDENT After completing the information for a student, PLEASE make sure he/she SIGNS ALL FORMS! PLEASE REFER TO FINAL FORMS HANDOUT FOR ALL INSTRUCTIONS NEW REGISTRATION for athletes for the 2021-2022 will begin on MAY 3rd. PLEASE DO NOT register before this date!!! Beginning on MAY 3rd, athletes and parents that are already registered on Final Forms will ONLY to have electronically re-sign the forms before the start of the season Both a parent and student MUST register and SIGN ALL FORMS before an athlete may try out for a sport If this is not done by the first tryout date, the athlete will NOT be able to tryout until all forms are completed.
SPORTS OFFERED Fall Sports: Football, Volleyball, Cross-Country, Fall Cheerleading Winter Sports: Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling and Winter Cheerleading Spring Sports: Boys Track and Girls Track
CONFERENCE We are in the Great Lakes Conference Boys will play against Bay, Fairview, Hillside, Lakewood, Medina Buckeye, North Olmsted, Rocky River, Shiloh, University School and Westlake Girls will play against Bay, Fairview, Hillside, Lakewood, Medina Buckeye, North Olmsted, Rocky River, Shiloh and Westlake Other games will be played against non-conference opponents
8th GRADE ATHLETICS All 8th Grade teams are called the Valley Forge Patriots They will wear Valley Forge colors and uniforms Even though they go to school at VF, are called VF, and wear VF uniforms, they are under the jurisdiction of Greenbriar for athletics Any questions or concerns regarding eligibility, physicals, paperwork, fees, etc.. please contact me PLEASE DO NOT contact the high school for information as they will not have it All 8thGrade announcements, information and schedules are on the Greenbriar Athletic Website
PRACTICE ALL practices are held at Greenbriar 8thGraders will be bussed from Valley Forge to Greenbriar each day for practice Bus numbers for the 8thGraders will be determined at the beginning of the 2021-2022 school year Athletes will be picked up at Greenbriar each day after practice
GAMES 7thGrade Football games will be played at Greenbriar 8thGrade Football games will be played at Valley Forge Volleyball games will be played at either Greenbriar or Valley Forge Cross Country sites will vary For all away contests, athletes will take a bus to and from the site
7th/8th GRADE FOOTBALL First practice will be on TUESDAY, AUGUST 2ndfrom 5:00-8:00 PM at Greenbriar 7thGrade Coaches: Mr. Shumaker and Mr. Balogh Contact information is bigshu309@msn.com 8thGrade Coaches: Mr. Blaha and Mr. Klimik Contact information is blahad@parmacityschools.org There are no cuts for this sport!!
VOLLEYBALL All athletes will meet on TUESDAY, AUGUST 3rdat Greenbriar from 9:00 AM - 10:00 AM for both 7thGrade and 8thGrade to turn in the physical and forms Tryouts are WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 4thand THURSDAY, AUGUST 5that Greenbriar from 9:00-10:30 AM for 7thGRADERS and 11:00-12:30 PM for 8thGRADERS It is highly recommended that all athletes attend both tryout dates to help ensure the best possible chance of making the team There are only 10-14 positions available for each team Girls will purchase their uniform for approximately $25.00-$30.00 and keep it after the season ends 7thGrade Coach: Ms. James jameski@parmacityschools.org 8thGrade Coach: Mrs.Whipkey whipkeycr@parmacityschools.org

CHEERLEADING Cheer clinics will be on Monday, May 17thand Tuesday, May 18thfrom 3:15-5:15 PM at Greenbriar Tryouts are on Thursday, May 20thfrom 5:00-7:00 PM at Greenbriar There will be a Fall Cheer squad and a Winter Cheer squad There are a limited number of positions for each squad Fall Practices start on August 2nd Winter Practices will start in the middle of October Coach: Mrs. Hudson coachandrea@cheer.com
FUNDRAISER Parma City School District Athletic Raffle Cash Prizes- 3 chances to Win (Grand Prize- $500/2nd & 3rd Prize- $100) Tickets are $5.00 each $3.00 from each ticket will go directly to purchasing supplies or equipment for the designated sport listed on the ticket $2.00 from each ticket will go directly to the general athletic fund to help with operating costs Please be sure to write the SPORT (Volleyball, 7thGrade Football, etc) as well as the athlete's LAST NAME on the line provided on the raffle ticket Any money raised cannot be used specifically for one individual or transferred to other activities
