Optimizing Blackboard Management for Effective Course Delivery
Today's session covered survey results, Blackboard content storage limits, local helpdesk setup, reminders, and announcements. Key areas discussed included assistance needed, content building tips, course content transfer strategies, and managing file storage. Participants were encouraged to provide feedback through a Blackboard support survey and given guidance on handling Blackboard content storage limits. Suggestions for managing content outside of Blackboard and organizing local helpdesks were also shared. Updates on Blackboard helpdesk ticket processes were announced to enhance technical assistance efficiency starting January 2021.

Blackboard Content Storage Limit 500 MB Storage = 0.5 GB limit per course This is content only. Collaborate recordings are housed outside of the course. Managing Blackboard Content Store files outside of Blackboard and use links to access content. OneDrive, Dropbox, Google Drive, other cloud storage Collaborate, Webex, YouTube, Screencastify, Screencastomatic Plan classes so that separation may occur, if needed. Ex. Local Helpdesks Each local program should begin building a local helpdesk Purposes Troubleshooting Password Resets Referrals to Training and Resources Different ways to organize 1-2 specific sub-administrators Assign sub-administrators by site or county Group of sub-admins who monitor one email address: ex. blackboardhelp@peachtech.edu.
Blackboard Helpdesk Tickets Starting in January 2021, the OAE helpdesk (oaehelpdesk@tcsg.edu) will begin limiting helpdesk technical assistance requests to emails that come from sub-administrators only. This will help us verify that programs have attempted to resolve issues locally first. Master Class and Student Class forms can still be submitted by others (ex. administrative assistants, data clerks), as long as the contact person is the program administrator.
ALERT!! The Basic and Advanced Blackboard Faculty Training courses will be closing on December 30, 2020 at 3pm. Uncompleted courses will result in participants having to start over with new courses in January 2021 Old Building at tcsg.blackboard.com is shutting down (Blackboard accounts will be removed.) E-mail OAE helpdesk the course ID if you need something moved.
Blackboard Account Request form Retires on December 10, 2020 All Blackboard accounts are created through GALIS. Special Requests can be submitted through the helpdesk.
Blackboard Student Classes ests. All requests for the creation of any student class (content or collaborate only) with a start date between January 1-15, 2021 need to be submitted no later than Friday, December 11, 2020.
Training: Adding Content to Bb Collaborate Only Classes Each program can send up to 10 people, but only if they have experience accessing Bb and creating/hosting sessions in Collaborate. Make sure you send your Blackboard experts who will need to provide local training and technical assistance. Its GO Time Sessions in 2021 Sessions will resume on January 7, 2021. Sessions will be every other Thursday from 1:00-2:00 pm. (1/7, 1/21, 2/4, 2/18, 3/4, 3/18) We will reassess need at the end of March. Sessions will continue to be recorded and posted.
