Each day offers a unique learning opportunity to deepen understanding of social studies concepts and historical events.

  1. WEEK 2 BELL WORK

  2. MONDAY There are packets of vocabulary words and definitions on your desks. Create a tree map chart and classify all 39 words under words you know well, words you kind of understand and words you don t know or understand at all. PRE-AP Classes: In addition to the tree map. Create a sentence using the words exploration and economics in context.

  3. TUESDAY Please make sure your 1stand last name is on your paper and the date is on your bell work next to each day! Who are Europeans and why do you THINK they explored the Americas in the 1500 s?

  4. WEDNESDAY Earlier this week we talked about the Mayflower Compact and the Virginia House of Burgesses. How are they different and how are they the same? PRE-AP: Include and double bubble map.

  5. THURSDAY Today we are going to read about transatlantic slave trade. Describe how you imagine the atmosphere would be on those ships. What would you see, hear, smell and how would you feel?

  6. FRIDAY Write 2-3 complete sentences over what makes you uncomfortable and explain a time when you were very uncomfortable both emotionally and physically.
