  1. Cyber Sprinters: Activity 1a Creating strong passwords

  2. How do passwords work? Passwords stop criminals from accessing things you want to protect online (like email, or online shopping). They work in the same way that a combination lock stops people stealing your valuables. If you don t know the combination, you can t open the lock! If a criminal doesn t know your password, they can t access your email, or your online shopping account.

  3. Creating a good password A good password is one that nobody else can guess (even people who know you very well). Your favourite football team would make a bad password. Random words and characters make good passwords (t6*jkd8asfs), but are hard for you to remember. You can create your own strong password by combining three random words into a single password. This will is easier to remember. t6*jkd8asfs t6*jkd8asfs

  4. Three random words! You can create a strong password by combining three words to make one long password. Pink + Bird + Sprouts = pinkbirdsprouts To make it easier to remember, think of a silly idea, or a picture in your head. The more unusual it is, the harder it is for a criminal to guess. Silly is good , but it must be random!

  5. Passwords: what have we learned Passwords can be used to protect valuable things online (like your email). Random passwords are strong, but hard to remember. A good way to create a strong password (that you can remember) is to combine three random words into a single password. A silly idea or picture in your head can help you remember it.
