  1. 1 April 21, 2015 RA Ballantyne CIPMA CONFERENCE APR 13 15, 2015

  2. 2 April 21, 2015 RA Ballantyne Conference Feedback Conference was attended by approximately 200 people Majority of attendees were senior executives from the CIPMA member companies Primary focus of attendees was networking and the opportunity to hear speakers on the future of the BW and Independent method of retail petroleum business in Canada Service companies also attended to support their business with these retailers eg NEE, GVR, Wayne, Norcan, various trucking firms, ZCL, Bulloch, Franklin Fueling, Waleco, Containment Solutions

  3. 3 April 21, 2015 RA Ballantyne Networking Discussions held with: Pioneer Bob Reid is a strong supporter of POST. His challenge will be retaining POST subsequent to purchase approval of Pioneer by Parkland. Also discussed with Vic Holdsworth (Sr VP W&S) who expressed interest as well Parkland discussion held with Peter Kilty. He is aware of the POST program and will send an email to his HSE, construction and mtce managers to arrange a follow-up meeting with me. Difficult to tie down as many Parkland folks were conducting side meetings with petroleum suppliers Still waiting for the email but Jane Savage, (VP Wholesale & Supply) will remind him Canadian Tire discussions held with Bruce Allen and Andrea Ongaro prior to and at the conference. Follow-up meeting being scheduled to review POST with CTC key reps.

  4. 4 April 21, 2015 RA Ballantyne Networking Discussions held with: Wilsons Fuels discussion with David Collins, VP. Very interested in POST and willing to meet in a few weeks to further discuss use of POST certified contractors. McDougall Energy spoke with Darren McDougall, Pres. Aware of the program and interested to discuss further. Asked that I contact him in 2 weeks to set up a meeting with him at his Mississauga office (vs SSM) MacEwen Fuels spoke with Robert Fortin, VP W&S as well as Roger Villeneuve, Operations Mgr. Limited hope here as MacEwen does all of their own work and quite happy with safety performance of their limited number of contractors Husky did not speak with them but did receive a request from Lawrence Richler, VP Cdn Products Marketing via Terry Keough to forward them a complimentary copy of the the CPCA Recommended Practices booklet.

  5. 5 April 21, 2015 RA Ballantyne Networking Discussions held with: UPI Energy met with Robert McKenzie, Director of Retail and Operations and John Canjar, Director, Sales & Marketing. Extremely interested in POST and have requested a meeting at their Guelph office to review in more detail. Timing TBD Valero met with Paul Timgren. Not involved in construction or mtce. CST did not meet with anyone from CST at the conference. Prior discussions with Mario Pouliot indicated that CST/Ultramar (and hence Valero) had looked at POST in the past and had no interest.

  6. 6 April 21, 2015 RA Ballantyne Go Forward Initiatives & Thoughts Go Forward Follow-up with all potential parties to establish firm meetings Provide a much deeper dive into the contents and benefit of the program at these meetings than what can be provided in the room drop material or in a quick discussion during breaks or at breakfast/lunch Reach out to some companies that were not in attendance ie UFA Thoughts Attendance by OPCA at this conference provided an excellent opportunity to put a face to the POST program and instill interest in adoption of the program by CIPMA member companies and the opportunity to meet with their folks more directly involved with safety, construction and maintenance Some, but few, of the independents are already using POST certified contractors Most attendees had seen but had not read any of the material included in the room drop. Limited opportunity to do so as the days were full and most had evening dinner plans pre-established. Most of the independents use GCs as their prime but do not feel the same level of ownership of incident management as do IOL, Shell, Suncor. Need to appeal to their sense of ethics and pocket book in the event of an incident

  7. 7 April 21, 2015 RA Ballantyne Thanks to the following folks for their support in introducing me to some of the key members of the CIPMA organization Parkland Fuels - Jane Savage NEE Tina McCombie, Tony Iozzo Waleco Chris Vassos OPW Steve Stewart Canadian Fuels Association Gilles Morel PetroMaxx Blake Larsen Pioneer Bob Reid Innospec Fuel Specialties Eugene Malynowski Franklin Fueling Systems Ron Walls
