  1. Azle FCCLA Texas FCCLA Region II Competitive Event Parent & Member Meeting

  2. Welcome! Thank you for coming to our Azle FCCLA parent meeting for members and officers going to the Texas FCCLA Region II Leadership Conference. Thank You for allowing your son or daughter to go with us to Texas FCCLA Region II. It is a great opportunity for them to compete and develop leadership skills. The benefits of leadership will continue throughout their lives. We know there has been a lot of time and patience put in by your family for those competing and we appreciate that so much.

  3. Individual/Team Required to Check-in for Event Each individual/team MUST check-in during the check-in time listed on the competitive event schedule in order to compete. 8:00am. This check-in will be at a designated time and place at the region and state conferences. An individual and/or team member must sign-in at the competitive event check-in. (*NOTE: Competitive Event check-in is NOT the same as Conference Registration. Get the TEXAS FCCLA App for updated times.

  4. Remain at Check in for adjusted times! Students must remain at the check-in location until the end of the competitive event check-in period. At that time, all entries must initial the adjusted time schedule to ensure they are aware of the updated competition times. Breakfast: Make sure you have eaten prior to check-in as your event time could move up.

  5. Volunteering & Competing Volunteers to Bosque Theatre at 7:30 am. Short Orientation. Go to your volunteering room and work until your prep with advisor /competition time. (Give time to get to competition with all supplies and etc. Lead Consultants aware you need time, so ask them ahead of time.) Room #Assignments Go ASAP to Check-in 8:00 am. Sign in. Stay until check-in is over in case there is a no show and you get bumped to a different time slot. After your competition is over, go back to your volunteer station and finish your day. Registration Anabelle & Mrs. Deramee and parent volunteers. Members rotate in. There will be lunch breaks. Go in groups. Talk to lead consultant in room about every time you need to leave your station. Voting/Running Office, (Anna Latta can volunteer at registration until House of Delegates 1:00. Leave early.

  6. Official FCCLA Dress At check-in, participants must be in their presentation attire or official FCCLA dress. Culinary: Chef attire only for competition, all other times: Official FCCLA dress. Participants may not check in unless they are in official dress or their presentation attire.

  14. Individual Events Check-In Times & Locations Competition times can change if individuals or teams cancel or fail to show up on time. Check remind messages and the Texas FCCLA App. (Competition times are updated) Check messages from Mrs. Deramee and Ms. Morgan, and Mrs. Baker.

  15. FCS Assessments The FCSAs will be taking place from 9:00 am to 11:00am depending on your particular test in the Waco Hilton Hotel Members need to bring their own #2 pencils. NO PENS! At check-in, please ensure that your participants use both the chapter name and advisor name by which they are registered. Natasha Deramee Azle FCCLA 13479 (Our chapter number) Students taking the FCSAs must be in official dress. Advisors, there will be one seat reserved during the First General Session for each chapter that registered for the FCSAs. Please select one member to sit in the reserved area prior to the session beginning at 7:00 p.m.

  17. Friday February 28, 2020 - First General Session Waco Convention Center 7:00 9:00 p.m. Friday and Saturday - We will sit together as a group. Exceptions- Anabelle for Region Officer duties, Anna for running for Officer duties. Mrs. Deramee may be near front to help with officer duties or standing. If you need to get up to go to the restroom, tell your advisor where you are going, do so quietly and return to the session. Photos and social media about FCCLA are encouraged. Please share with Mrs. Deramee all photos for the website. Playing on your phone and not listening/participating is strongly discouraged! Be about 5-10 minutes early to sit closer to the front together. One member will be seating in the awards section on Friday. Saturday- February 29, 2020 Check out of your room prior to the session. Room checks at 7:45am. Be out of your room by 8 am. Load luggage. Eat Breakfast, then go to conference. Second General Session Waco Convention Center 9:00 11:30 a.m. Saturday- Competitors who place will be sitting in specific rows to go to the front for awards. We will leave conference together to load up and leave. (Safety issue)

  18. What to Bring Umbrella and/or rain poncho Coats, Sweaters, Jackets & etc., for the weather. Professional Dress that meet FCCLA guidelines. You may wear jeans and FCCLA t-shirt on Thursday to travel to Waco. Professional Dress all the time except in your hotel room for the night. Professional Dress check no later than Tuesday. Extra money for meals.

  19. Curfew Curfew is set in the hotel at 11:00 p.m. This means that for AzleFCCLA, members should be in their rooms by 10:30 p.m. with doors closed and voices should not be heard from the halls or through the walls. There is to be NO food brought into the Hilton & Marriott, please eat outside food in other locations. Best Behavior! Advisors will be doing room checks. Parents will be called to come get anyone who breaks Behavior Contract rules or hotel rules.

  20. Texas FCCLA, Azle FCCLA & Azle ISD Code of Conduct Students who act in a manner that is unprofessional, breaking either the Texas FCCLA rules of etiquette, Azle ISD Code of Conduct, illegal drugs, medicine not prescribed for an illness or breaking curfew, going out of their hotel room during the night, going into a hotel room of an opposite sex person, without adult supervision, or meeting/having someone in their hotel room that is not assigned to be there, behavior of a sexual nature, that member will have their parent(s) called to come pick them up and take them home.

  21. Hotel Behavior *Kindly keep in mind that there are many guests not affiliated with FCCLA staying in the hotel. Respect the peace and quiet of all guests by practicing these things: *Remember that groups of people make more noise than one person. *Do not slam doors. *Keep your voices down when traveling from the elevators to your room. *Outside food is not to be brought into either the hotels or the Convention center.

  22. Behavior at Hotels * Please refrain from throwing objects from stairs or balcony. * It is unsafe to hang from railings or slide down banisters. * All TV or music levels in rooms or in public areas such as lobby, pool area, halls, etc. must be at an acceptable volume. * Be aware that overfilling the elevators could cause a malfunction. Please limit each elevator car and do not overload.

  23. Hotel Behavior Continued. * Hotels have the option of imposing any sanctions they may deem necessary to maintain order, even to the point of expulsion of the person or persons causing disturbances or damage to their property. Advisors will be checking all rooms prior to check- out. Please clean up after yourselves. (trash, towels picked up) We do not want a poor report back to the school district for any reason or for Azle ISD to get a bill for damage or cleaning.

  24. Volunteering for Competition You are not allowed to go back to the room to hangout or sleep during conference and competition times. Everyone is volunteering in competition rooms, competing for their event, running for a Region II office, serving as a voting delegate, or attending one of the leadership workshops. You will receive volunteer hours for your time as volunteers and the Lead Consultant in each competition event will sign for your volunteer hours. Please make sure you turn this paper in to Mrs. Deramee toward letter jacket points. You represent our chapter and our school.

  25. Parent volunteers or guests Parents who want to come with us to WACO to serve as volunteers or chaparones will have to provide their own transportation, pay for their own hotel room and pay the guest fee to Texas FCCLA. Guest fees pay for your badge to get into General Sessions and identify you as a volunteer/guest. Parents who serve as evaluators (judges), will not have to pay the guest fee. Parents of Mystery Basket competitors who would like to come down to watch their student compete will have to pay the guest fee. Guest fees pay for your badge to get into the Mystery Basket competition and into General Sessions. Parents who stay for the awards ceremony will have to pay for their own hotel room. Mystery Basket is the only open competition to spectators.

  26. How will advisors keep in contact with parents? Azle FCCLA Parents Remind Through Remind. We will text you and you may text us also. We also will have contact information if it is necessary and remind is not working,(permission slips). We will text on Remind when we arrive in Waco.

  29. Extra Questions Picking up materials after your event. 30 minutes after your event is over, you may retrieve folders and etc.

  30. Cleaning of Suburban & Bus We will be cleaning out the vehicles, unloading culinary equipment, project materials & throwing away trash. Once we arrive at Azle High School, students will call parents, but we would like to take about 20-30 minutes to make sure that all project materials are unloaded, as well as checking that all luggage, cell phones, purses, & pillows are out and make sure the vehicles are cleaner than we found them.
