An effective social media event strategy involves connecting with followers before, during, and after the event. Choose the right platforms, create engaging visuals, leverage paid advertising, and utilize event-specific hashtags. Pre-event activities include setting up event pages, engaging with potential attendees, and building excitement. During the event, use live posts on platforms like Twitter and Facebook Live. Post-event, continue promotion by sharing user-generated content, highlights, press links, and follow-up surveys for feedback.

  1. How to Use Social Media to Promote Your Online event?

  2. Social Media Event Strategy An effective social media event strategy will involve connecting with your followers before, during, and after an event. Here are some social media techniques for creating an impactful digital experience for your guests, from start to finish: Choose Your Social Media Platform(s) Wisely: Decide which social media platforms fit best with your industry, event themes & target audience. For example, Instagram is a visual platform, powered by photos, videos and visually appealing graphics, while Twitter is the medium to have rapid, quick conversations. For higher engagement, we recommend Facebook and YouTube. Prepare visuals: Pictures Are Worth 1,000 Words - text-only posts should be the exception rather than the norm! Timing is everything: Right Time to Post on Social Media - tools like SocialPilot can help you to schedule or share your post consistently across all social media networks. Don t forget about Paid Social Media Advertising - only about 2-6% of your Facebook followers will see posts you make on your event page - so a small investment can be worth it to help you reach a larger audience who you may not have connected with yet.

  3. Pre- event: Set up, engage, build excitement Create an event page on Facebook: Make a Facebook event that includes all the details your guests will need. Tag the official pages of your invited speakers or special guests. Upgrade your social profiles Find communities on Facebook & LinkedIn that might be interested in your event and invite them to register Post a countdown on Instagram Stories: The countdown sticker on Instagram Stories lets you set an end date and time. You can also customize the name and color of the clock. Viewers can subscribe to receive a notification when the clock runs out, or add the countdown to their own Story. Create a branded hashtag and include our hashtags: #DiscoverYourTalent #EUVocationalSkills - Include Event Hashtag in All Bios Post teasers/ sneak peek - ex. Post behind-the-scenes images on Instagram about event preparations

  4. During- event: Live posts: Twitter: offer play-by-play coverage of the event, use your event hashtag! Facebook Live - According to Facebook Live, users spend more than 3x more time and comment 10x more when the video is live

  5. Post- event: Don t let the promotion end once the event is over! Post user-generated content of the event Post highlights on websites and social media (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube) - brag a little by sharing all the great press you ve gathered! Post links to press articles. Share content that gives people a taste of what they missed. Post images and videos that will inspire that it s-like-I-was-there feeling Follow-up surveys provide great insight into what you did right, so you can repeat and expand upon that next time
