Shine In The Midst of Problems The Book of Daniel
Perilous Times Condition of the heart II Timothy 3:1-4, TLB 1 In the last days it is going to be very difficult to be a Christian. 2For people will love only themselves and their money; they will be proud and boastful, sneering at God, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful to them, and thoroughly bad. 3They will be hardheaded and never give in to others; they will be constant liars and troublemakers and will think nothing of immorality. They will be rough and cruel, and sneer at those who try to be good. 4They will betray their friends; they will be hotheaded, puffed up with pride, and prefer good times to worshiping God.
Shine thru Problems How did Daniel advance the Kingdom of God in perilous time? Daniel had an excellent Spirit. He brought light, understanding, and knowledge and they saw him use it to solve problems. Matthew 5:16 KJV Let your light so shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. We are called to shine.
Shine - Daniel 5:11-12 11There is a man in thy kingdom, in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and in the days of thy father light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, was found in him; whom the king Nebuchadnezzar thy father, the king, I say, thy father, made master of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers; 12Forasmuch as an excellent spirit, and knowledge, and understanding, interpreting of dreams, and shewing of hard sentences, and dissolving of doubts, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar: now let Daniel be called, and he will shew the interpretation.

How Did Daniel Shine In The Midst of Problems?
PREPARE FOR PROBLEMS!
Prepare and Purpose 1. In Ch1 Daniel was 13-16 when he was taken captive. He s in a foreign region and kingdom where serving the true and living God is counter cultural. He purposed in heart not defile himself with Babylon s food, Babylon s fear and Babylon s worship. 2. Defile Hebrew root word means to repudiate or to divorce or formally separate from. Daniel was married to the standard of God, married to his training to walk in holiness and sanctification to the true and living God. 3. Prepare by Training Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Sunday School teachers Parents Grandparents Coaches Influencers Friends Preachers Keep it up. You re marrying them to the standards of God, so they ll be ready to stand when problems arise, and the temptation is to divorce God. Help them build a foundation of faithfulness.
Servants Attitude In The Midst Of Problems
Problem The Secret Dream Vs 9 - The dream is so disturbing to the King that he issues a command that unless they tell him what he dreamed and what the dream means they will all be killed. Vs 16 - Daniel goes in to see the king and ask him for time and that he will show him his dream and give interpretation. Good attitude. He doesn t try to convince the king to stop the madness nor does he beg for his life. Vs 17, 18 - Daniel goes to his house and lets Hananiah, Azariah and Mishael know what s happening and they seek God to reveal this secret.
Secret Revealed Vs 19 The secret is revealed to Daniel in a night vision. He blesses and thanks God. 23I thank thee, and praise thee, O thou God of my fathers, who hast given me wisdom and might, and hast made known unto me now what we desired of thee: for thou hast now made known unto us the king's matter.
Secret Revealed Vs 27 The wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, can t reveal this secret. Vs 28 But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days Vs 30 (But remember, it s not because I am wiser than any living person that I know this secret of your dream, for God showed it to me for your benefit.)
Servants Attitude It s not about me. It s about what God wants known. Even though Daniel and the 3 Hebrew boys prayed about it, even though his life was threatened, He is a vessel sent to reveal what God wants known. He does it with a heart void of offence. Without Daniel God and the kingdom of God is hidden to Babylon. Can God use me to reveal what s concealed in the face of problems and I remain unoffended? We are the lights of the world. 2 Corinthians 4:3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost.
Praying In The Midst of Problems!
Connect Prayer to the Problem 1. Daniel was quick to go to God and not convince man. He didn t try to go it alone. Invite God and Godly people in. Pour out your complaint to the Lord and only to those that will seek God with you. Guard your heart. Daniel connected prayer to the problem instead of pressure. He brought the problem to his circle of faith. They sought the Lord together about the problem. The more you pray it thru, you can get a new perspective Take time to give thanks, bless and worship God Daniel 2:22 KJV - He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. 2. 3.
Daniel 2:22 KJV He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
Whats Your Perspective in the midst of Problems?
Gods Perspective Daniel didn t ask God why is this happening to me, he asked God to show him what. You can ask God why but don t get stuck there. I can t do the what until you explain why. Isaiah 55:8-9 kjv. 8For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. 9For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. 10For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: 11So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it. God has a plan!
Daniels Perspective Sometimes the why will only be found by revelation (know by experience ) and not by information (know by telling). Sometimes the why is found in the walk of our worship (daily walk). Sometimes God reveals himself as we praise Him. The king worshipped and received revelation of God. After Daniel tells the king s dream, the king worshipped Daniel and said your God is a God of gods, and a Lord of kings, and a revealer of secrets. Does your shine cause others to worship God or see God?
God Has A Purpose In This Problem!
Reminder - Jeremiah 29:5-7 Jeremiah sends a letter to the captives and reminds them of what God expects them to do in Babylon. 5 Build ye houses, and dwell in them; and plant gardens, and eat the fruit of them; 6Take ye wives, and beget sons and daughters; and take wives for your sons, and give your daughters to husbands, that they may bear sons and daughters; that ye may be increased there, and not diminished. 7And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the Lord for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace.
Diminish Lessen, to be (or to cause, to make) small or few (or ineffective): suffer to decrease, gather least (little), be (seem) little, bring to nothing.
Increase Bring in abundance, be in authority, bring up, enlarge, excel, be full, (make) great(-er), grow up, (be, give, have) more (in number), (make to) multiply, nourish, plenty.
Increase wherever you are God doesn t want to diminish you (bring you to nothing). God wants to increase you wherever you are (bring you in abundance). He wants to reveal His kingdom and your greatness, and he can do it thru problems. For Daniel The problems were his access point and an opportunity to demonstrate the kingdom and he was promoted. Keep shining in the midst of problems Remain unoffended towards God and men. You are the light of the world.
PREPARE FOR PROBLEMS!
PRAY IN THE MIDST OF PROBLEMS!
INCREASE WHEREVER YOU ARE!
Conclusion Live Ready Matthew 25 The Kingdom of Heaven can be illustrated by the story of ten bridesmaids who took their lamps and went to meet the bridegroom. But five of them were wise enough to fill their lamps with oil, while the other five were foolish and didn t when the bridegroom was delayed, they lay down to rest until midnight, when they were roused by the shout, The bridegroom is coming! Come out and welcome him! All the bridesmaids jumped up but the the five who hadn t any oil begged the others to share with them, for their lamps were going out. But the others replied, We haven t enough. Go instead to the shops and buy some for yourselves. But while they were gone, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was locked. Later, when the other five returned, they stood outside, calling, Sir, open the door for us! But he called back, Go away! It is too late! So stay awake and be prepared, for you do not know the date or moment of His return. Don t miss your purpose Live ready.
Dont Miss Your Purpose The only reason the bridesmaids were there was to be ready when the bridegroom arrived. You re here in this time and season for a reason. Don t miss your purpose. God gives us our purpose and our best shine comes when we give our life to Him. LIVE READY
