40 DAYS OF COURAGEOUS LIVING
Sermon #3

STANDING FIRM IN THE FIERY TRIALS

Modern Day Babylon

No one is immune to trials.

1 Peter 4:12-13 (NLT)
Dear friends, don’t be surprised at the fiery
trials you are going through, as if something
strange were happening to you. Instead, be
very glad—for these trials make you
partners with Christ in his suffering, so that
you will have the wonderful joy of seeing his
glory when it is revealed to all the world.

John 16:33 (NLT)
“I have told you all this so that you may
have peace in me. Here on earth you will
have many trials and sorrows. But take
heart, because I have overcome the
world”

Jesus tells us to expect trials.

Is the suffering in our lives a direct
consequence of our sin?

What do we do when
hard
times
arrive at
our
 doorsteps?

EPHESIANS 6:10

STANDING FIRM IN THE FIERY FURNACE
2. Trust that God will strengthen you through trials.

1 Pet.1:7 (NLT)
These trials will show that your
faith is genuine
. It is being
tested as fire tests and
purifies
gold—though your faith is far
more precious than mere gold.
So when your faith remains
strong through many trials, it
will bring you much praise and
glory and honour on the day
when Jesus Christ is revealed
to the whole world.

Turn to the Lord, not away from Him.
Trust in His goodness and know that
t
here is a blessing
attached to every trial, if you stand firm in God.
P
ray and meditate on His word.
Ask: W
hat does God want me to learn from this trial?

How do I find hope during trials?

3.
See the manifestation of God’s great power in trials.

Daniel 3:25 (NLT)

“Look!” Nebuchadnezzar shouted. “I
see four men, unbound,
walking
around in the fire unharmed! And the
fourth looks like a god
!”

When the cool evening breezes were blowing, the
man and his wife heard the Lord God
walking
 about
in the garden.

God’s manifestation comes to them as a cool

Matthew 28:20 (NLT)

, even to the end of the age.”

Be Still

“Be still, and know that I am God;
I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth.”
