Unifrog resources Competencies: teamwork
Instructions The competencies section of the Unifrog platform allows you to list concrete examples of competencies, to support you in your future applications. A key competency employers and universities favour is teamwork. This competency is transferrable to numerous sectors and is complimentary to other competencies, including leadership, communication and problem solving. In this activity, you will take part in an activity designed to improve your teamwork skills.
Instructions Helium Stick You will have 15 minutes to complete this challenge. 1. Work in groups and stand in two lines facing each other. 2. Hold your index finger of your right hand at chest high. 3. A stick (or balloon) will be placed on the outstretched fingers. 4. Your challenge is to lower the stick to the ground. - All team members fingers must stay touching the stick at all times. - If anyone s finger loses contact with the stick then you must start again.
Discussion What aspect of the activity was challenging? What is required for effective teamwork? Why is teamwork an attractive quality to employers and universities? How have you demonstrated teamwork skills in or out of school?
