8. Sportsmanship Encourage positive sportsmanship by example. Remind fellow parents if they get inappropriately carried away with their emotions during the game. Accept these reminders graciously when offered by other parents. All players, coaches and spectators set their own best example of positive behavior on the field and on the sidelines-- everyone helps everyone else enjoy the day and the match. Page 8

Neenah Soccer Club Activities Scholarship Program Applications available by contacting Carmen Dietz or under Classic Soccer/About Classic soccer on the NSC website Available to families in need One criteria is qualifying for free lunch program 3 levels of scholarship Registration only - $150 Registration and uniform - $300 Registration, uniform, practice/tournament fees up to $500 Let the club know if you have players or families that you think may be in need of assistance NSC wants to include all interested players in our program and doesn t want to exclude anyone for financial reasons Page 9

US Soccer Player Development Initiatives WYSA made changes effective 8/1/16 Age Group Changes Thanks to all in preparing for and dealing with the changes for tryouts and team formation for the 2016/17 seasons Many challenges that hopefully will become easier with time Small sided games U11 and U12 now playing 9 v 9 Concussion initiative U11 Heading prohibited, indirect free kick from the spot of the offense U12, 13, 14 Heading allowed in games Practice limited to 30 minutes/week and 15-20 headers/player/week Page 10

15. Rescheduling, score reporting and Referees (Mike Jones) The home team is responsible for initiating any schedule changes. 17. Criteria for suspension and resumption of play When thunder is heard, or a cloud-to-ground lightning bolt is seen, the thunderstorm is close enough to strike your location with lightning. Suspend play and take shelter immediately. Thirty-minute rule. Once play has been suspended, wait at least 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard or flash of lightning is witnessed prior to resuming play. Any subsequent thunder or lightning after the beginning of the 30-minute count, reset the clock and another 30-minute count should begin. If the referees are on site prior to the game and bad weather prevents the game from being started, the home team will pay the referees their portion of the game fees. The game will have to be rescheduled and at that time the referees must be paid in full by both teams prior to the games starting. Page 17

18. Team Manager Mentor Program Introduction of Manager Mentor Program If you re not quite sure what you need to do at different times of the season/year, can contact one of us. 19. Team Management 101 Tips to being a good Team Manager: In the beginning of the season, make multiple copies of everything (at least 8 copies). (WYSA Roster and Medical Waivers) I will also be sending you a PDF of Week of games: send out an email indicating game day information: Location, Time, Warm-up Times, Opponent, and Caravan location if traveling. (Shutterfly/TeamSnap will do most of this) Ensure that all players are included in all team activities and not excluding others. It helps the coaches maintain a team atmosphere. Page 19

20. Team Management 101 - Continued Tips to being a good Team Manager: Have team meetings with the parents at least one time per season. If you play year round, consider holding 4 meetings. Put a team schedule together. This should include team building activities, practices, games, and tournaments. This allows for parents to plan. (Again, Shutterfly/TeamSnap does this nicely) If the team is a younger team, consider a snack schedule as part of your schedule. Enlist the assistance of parents on the team to keep engagement high. Page 20

21. Tournament Preparation Create a tentative list of preferred tournaments based on the coaches feedback, competition level, and travel requirements. Once the tournaments have been selected have a parent meeting to get consensus on tournaments. Go to each of the tournament websites to create a schedule of when you need to secure the tournament. Larger tournaments can fill their brackets 6 months prior to the tournament. Each tournament website should have Team Manager requirements or Check-in requirements. It is critical to go to this first so you know exactly what is required for registration. Page 21

22. Tournament Preparation - continued Basics for every tournament usually include at a minimum: Approved (Official) WYSA Roster, Medical Waivers/Release of Liability, and Player Passes. Be sure that you confirm they do not require their own Medical Release/Liability waiver. If this is an out of state tournament you WILL need an approved permission to travel. 23. Team Prospectus Prospectus Please review with your coaches to determine if they have a current prospectus. Many teams had an age group prospectus prior to tryouts, but we would now like to update the website with each team s individual prospectus If your team does not have a prospectus, please get a hold of the Classic Director or Director of Coaching to assist with developing one for your team. When you have a current prospectus, please send it to Carmen Dietz so that we are able to post them on our NSC website. Page 23

Concussion Training CDC Heads Up to Youth Sports Online Concussion Training for Coaches Free concussion training o Takes approximately 30 minutes to complete www.cdc.gov/headsup/youthsports We would like all of our classic coaches to complete this training this fall o Submit a copy of your completion certificate to Carmen Dietz o Renew every 2 years (every other year) Players: Baseline Concussion Testing Information to follow soon with sponsorship and support (including testing) from Orthopedic Sports Institute Page 24
