  7. U9 U12 GAME FORMAT U9 - U10 play 7v7 with a goalkeeper U11-U12 Play 9v9 with a goalkeeper U9 U10 Field size is approx. 30 36m x 40-55m (Field dependent on City Facilities) U11 U12 Field size is approx. 42 55m x 60 - 75m (Field dependent on City Facilities) Match officials will be provided to manage the game All Parents should sit on the opposite side to players and coaches All players should play in all positions All players should receive equal playing time

  8. THE ROLE OF THE COACH AND PARENTS IN THE GAME Coaches manage the players on the field and sidelines Encourage, support and praise all players Coaches and Parents should not Joy Stick players through the game. Allow players to make decisions and understand that mistakes are OK. Ask players questions when they are on the side line. For example. After beating the second player what could you do different next time? Do not scream and yell at a Match Official if they make a mistake. Please remember they are still learning the game, just like your child. Cheer on and support every player in the field

  9. SOME BASIC RULES OF THE GAME There are no scores or standings kept in the u9-u12 program In a situation were a game potentially is unbalanced, as adults please use common sense: Example. If a team is beating a team by 4 or more goals, the team loosing could add an additional player in an attempt to balance the game. If the game goes back to a 3 goal deficit the extra player is then removed. No player benefits from a game that is lop sided. At the u9 u10 level, If the ball goes out of the side line, a player from the team that did not kick the ball out can restart the game with either a pass in or dribble in

  10. THE RETREAT LINE When the goalkeeper has the ball at a goal kick or after making a save, the opposing team members would ``retreat`` to the retreat line on the field. Once all the opposing players have retreated to the line the goalkeeper can successfully throw or pass the ball to one of his/her teammates. Once the teammate has received the ball, the opposing players can then start to apply pressure to the player with the ball. This gives the player on the ball the time and space required to have a look, receive the ball and choose to dribble or pass to a teammate without being marked or under immediate pressure. In the 7v7 and 9v9 game the retreat line is the at the 1/3 portion of the field three cones laid in line on each side of the field can indicate the retreat line. Note: do no put cones on the field as players may trip or slide on them. More information on the Retreat line can be found by watching a webinar at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=IPTwcXgTky8
