  1. Our School Development Plan Our School Development Plan 2021 2021- -22 22 Shropshire Virtual School are the Education Champions in the Local Authority for children and young people in care to Shropshire. We can also provide advice around education for Previously Looked After children and those who have a Social Worker. We work hard to ensure that our children and those leaving care have the opportunities they need to fulfil their potential and improve their life chances. Our team promotes education, achievement and wellbeing and we influence policy and practice that affects our learners. We advise and work closely with schools/settings and other professionals such as social workers, independent reviewing officers, health and foster carers to support our children to fulfil their potential. The Virtual School provides training to professionals on matters that are important for our children - and we aim to improve our pupils access to services. We also manage the Pupil Premium + budget to target money towards the things our children in care need to be successful in their education, employment or training so it is important we hear their voice around the things that are important to them so we can act in their best interests. As we are part of the Corporate Parent for our children and young people in care, we are mindful to promote a way of working that asks the question would this be good enough for my own child? . A key part of this is that we promote high aspirations for our learners by enjoying and celebrating their achievements across a wide range of activities.

  2. Our school development plan Our school development plan ATTENDANCE & ACCESS a focus on every young person being in and engaging well with a setting that positively meets their needs. Build new reporting & scrutiny for attendance and strive for our young people to have excellent support from the team to help improve their attendance, including reducing exclusions. ATTAINMENT & PROGRESS a focus on every child being able to fulfil their potential, enjoying learning and making good progress. Develop the Personal Education Plan to enable achievement to be clear, enabling needs to be planned for effectively - and to support our new forecasting and reporting. Develop a Pupil Premium + Support Map to show our offer & the impact it has on achievement. Plan for new resources to support learning after school and support our Carers with this.

  3. Our school development plan Our school development plan PERSONAL EDUCATION PLANS (PEPs) our aim is for every one of our young people to have a good quality personalized PEP in timescales, that supports their needs and helps them towards fulfilling their potential. Use data to evidence need for change/development and consult with partners to achieve co- production. Refresh the joint responsibilities and processes across Shropshire to make this happen. Develop the PEP itself to be clear & precise, including our young people s voices to support effective plans. PARTICIPATION our young people know who we are, what we do and how we can help. We support them to develop a group identity, have an impact on service design & delivery - and we celebrate their achievements! We recruit new people who are passionate about participation, build an activity plan for school holidays and develop our social media presence beginning with a Twitter account, a refreshed website and a new SVS logo designed by the young people. We start to plan for an Awards event and a Children in Care Council.

  4. Our school development plan Our school development plan TRANSITIONS, ASPIRATIONS & PROGRESSION we are aspirational for our young people to fulfil their potential and will build resources, advice and training to support their needs. We will work with our partners to develop opportunities & processes that support all sorts of transitions (including becoming Previously Looked After Children) as well as planning for post 16 destinations & outcomes. HEALTH & EMOTIONAL WELL-BEING we strive for our young people and our team to be well supported for positive emotional well-being and mental health. We will create training offers for our team & partners that support inclusion and well-being for our young people. We will work towards using Strengths & Difficulties Questionnaires effectively to support plans for young people. Our team will have opportunities to be together as much as possible, especially while we are working at home during covid.
