Core Beliefs The school counseling program at Walnut Creek Elementary School is fueled by these beliefs: All children can learn at or above grade level and will have an equal opportunity to do so. Family and community involvement is critical to student success. All learning environments will be supportive, safe, and secure. Effective teachers, leaders and employees produce excellent results. Applying ASCA Ethical Standards for School Counselors empowers school counselors to make decisions based on the highest moral principles to promote the maximum development of every student.

Comprehensive School Counseling Plan Focus Area 1: Student Achievement Goal: The counselors will increase the outcome MAP Assessment identified 4th and 5th graders @ Fall ELA 2022 Developing Learner 80% of these identified students scoring at Proficient learner or above May 2023 ELA MAP Indicator Target Student Achievement During the 2022-2023 academic year, the School Counselors will increase 80% identified 4th/5th grade students at the top end of Developing on Fall ELA MAP move to Proficient on Spring ELA MAP 2023 Outcome: The identified 4thgraders did not give permission to attend Ms. Hill s small group sessions The identified 5thgraders did attend Ms. Poythress small group sessions, but the sessions did not take place before administering Spring ELA MAP. Comprehensive School Counseling Plan Focus Area 1: Student Achievement Counseling Goal: Goal: During the 2021-2022 academic year, the School Counselors will decrease the number of fifth grade students scoring in the Lo and LoAverage of the MAP reading assessment by 4% ASCA Standards and Domains Timeline Students Involved Responsive Services Resources Needed Perception Outcome Sept. 2022- Apr. 2023 EIP Reading teachers provided that collaborative planning with fourth and fifth grade instructors would improve student performance. Collaborative planning would provide unified instructional strategies, tools, and academic discourse to positively impact student performance on reading assessments. Furthermore, it would decrease the amount of fourth and fifth grade students in the Low and Low Average ranges.
