Briars Junior Hockey 2023 Season Information Pack COACHES AND TRAINING TIMES Junior Training is on Wednesday nights, Cintra hockey complex as per below Team Time Coaches U7 and U9 5pm till 5.45pm Nicola Skinner U11 5pm till 6pm David Ratcliffe U13 5.15pm till 6.30pm Stuart Turnball U15 6 till 7pm Tom Vastani and Liam Swney U17 6.30 till 7.30pm Wade Johnson Coaching Coordinators Shaun Fuller & Courtney Pearson COMPETITIONS: Briars Juniors Play in the North Area Competition. Under 15 and Under 17 compete in the metro competition. The competitions run from late March to mid September including finals. Our matches are usually held on a Friday evening or Saturday morning. Games are played on hockey turfs at Cintra Hockey Complex, Pennant Hills (Pennant Hills Park), Ryde (Macquarie Park), Lidcombe and Sydney Olympic Park (Homebush). For more information about the NDJHA http://www.nahockey.org.au/ GRADING/SELECTIONS: Grading will take place across the preseason sessions for all teams. Selections are run by a group of qualified hockey coaches and will be based on attributes that include, skill, game play, fitness, culture and sportsmanship.   3. Briars Junior Hockey 2023 Season Information Pack REGISTRATION, FEES 2023 The online registration portal will open 12th February for all players to complete registration for the 2023 season. Existing members - please click RENEW and new members - please click REGISTER Follow the link below after 12thFeb. You will find detailed information on the different fee types, how to set up a payment plan, what to do if you are entitled to a discount, and using an Active Kids voucher when registering. https://www.revolutionise.com.au/briarshockey/registration/ UNIFORMS & EQUIPMENT Briars juniors play in a shirt, skorts or shorts and Briars socks. Uniforms and Supporter clothing ordered from: https://flyhisports.com.au/product-category/briars-hockey- club/ Equipment: shin guards, hockey stick and mouth guard, hockey shoes etc can all be purchased from Just Hockey, Shirley Strickland Avenue, Sydney Olympic Park. Which is inside the hockey stadium. UMPIRE DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES: The development of Junior and senior umpires is a key focus for our club. Any junior or senior interested in starting or advancing their umpire development please contact Chris Thuell our umpire coordinator via umpires@briarshockey.com.au REPRESENTATIVE HOCKEY: All players interested in furthering their hockey are encouraged to participate in our association (SEHA) representative hockey competition, providing further development opportunities, exposure to different coaching styles and new social connections. SEHA has representative teams in Juniors under 11s to under 18s SEHA representative hockey nominations are communicated, early each season and will be on the Briars socials and e-news. Briars Junior Hockey 2023 Season Information Pack CODE OF CONDUCT: Briars Hockey Club aligns completely with the Hockey Australia Code of Behaviour and in doing so are also aligned with Hockey NSW and our association SEHA. Our players/members, parents, coaches, managers and officials are asked to read the Codes of Behaviour relevant to them, they can be accessed from the Briars website via the link below: https://www.revolutionise.com.au/briarshockey/policies-documents/code-of-behaviour/ Behavioural Incident Process: Although we hope it is not required if you have concerns and/or witnessed a behavioural incident that is not aligned to our code of behaviour, please contact Junior VP Greg Dunn to discuss the incident. Briars has a compliance officer on the committee of which all incidents will be referred to along with the club VPs and President for discussion and resolution. Any Issue the Briars committee deem to be outside their jurisdiction will be referred to NSW hockey. All Players will need to sign that they have read and are aligned to the Code of behavior and Briars Ethos. BRIARS HOCKEY ETHOS: Briars is a club that focuses on all players having fun as a priority, being inclusive and assisting players to play at their best at all times. Briars Hockey Coaches; Behave in accordance with the Briars Code of Conduct at all times. Lead with a positive and inclusive attitudes to all team members and officials. Build individual skills and team dynamic throughout training sessions. Prepare training sessions in accordance with team level with the aim to build and improve the team's performance Be clear, fair and open with communication to the team, team family members and officials. Take a firm, fair consistent approach to managing behaviour. Bring some fun, this is why we play hockey. Briars Hockey Players; Behave in accordance with the Briars Code of Conduct at all times. Bring a positive and inclusive attitude to training and games. Attend Training every week with me team Train and play with complete respect to my coach, my team, opponents and officials Always demonstrate good sportsmanship on and off the field Respect Umpires and officials always. Not argue with officials on/off the field, if I disagree, I will request my captain to approach the official during a break/after game Arrive with ample time before my game as per coach requests. Assist the club in helping in the canteen at Cintra at least 2 times a year. Have fun, this is why we play hockey

Briars Junior Hockey 2023 Season Information Pack MINKEY U7s & U9s TRAINING: Term 1 - Wed 15th March - Wed 5th April 5pm - 5:45pm (4 weeks) Term 2 - Wed 26th April - Wed 28th June 5pm - 5:45pm (10 weeks) Term 3 - Wed 19th July - Wed 9th August 5pm 5:45pm (4 weeks) NO Training School holidays - 12th & 19th April NO Training school holidays - 5th & 12th July MATCHES: Matches will be held on Saturday mornings between 7:45am and 9am at either Cintra or Ryde hockey fields. There will be 2 x Gala days during the season and on one of these days our teams will travel to Pennant Hills Hockey Field. Both U7s and U9s will play 14 matches (including 2 gala days) commencing on Saturday 29th April, continuing weekly in school term, with the last matches on Saturday 12th August. REGISTRATION: Please note that the age groups that we play in (U7s and U9s) do not align to the Hockey Australia registration age groups. When you click the link below to register your child/ren for the 2023 season you will be asked to input your Childs date of birth. The system will automatically provide you with the registration options based on your Childs age as at 31st Dec 2023. If you child will be aged 6, 7 or 8 at 31st Dec 2023 they are deemed an U8 registration If you child will be aged 9, 10 or 11 at 31st Dec 2023 they are deemed an U11 registration Registration link - https://www.revolutionise.com.au/briarshockey/registration/ UNIFORMS: The Minkey competition is very relaxed regarding uniforms, if you are a returning minkey player and have the free uniform provided to your previously, the new Briars club uniform, or a combination of old and new, players are welcome to wear it. NEW Minkey players will be provided a free playing shirt, shorts/skort and playing socks closer to the season commencing. FLICK KIDS 6-week Introduction to hockey program for pre-schoolers aged between 3-5 years. Dates: February 10th, 17th & March 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th Time: 5pm - 5:45pm Location: Cintra Hockey Field - Gipps Street Concord (nearest cross street Loftus) Cost: $50 What you will be supplied: Hockey stick for use during the sessions Flick Kids t-shirt and shin guards to keep - new registrations only.
