  5. QAA ERF Update Similar arrangements to 2020-2001; adaptations, extenuations Adaptations applied in 2020-2021 can be carried over Adaptations can be made in anticipation of Covid related issues QAA issued guidance for providers & students QAA webinar for providers tomorrow at 2pm (bookings via QAA website) QAA compiling some examples of adaptations Adaptation requests will be made by filling in an adaptations log, extenuation still via the form. www.skillsandeducationgroupaccess.co.uk | 01924 434601 | @SEG_Access

  6. QAA ERF Update QAA have amplified monitoring of adaptations and extenuations as such timely and accurate records are imperative. This will be checked at first EM visits. If you are amending a brief, you must retain the originals. www.skillsandeducationgroupaccess.co.uk | 01924 434601 | @SEG_Access

  7. Adaptations Online/blended delivery and assessment. Alterations to assignment briefs to accommodate online assessment (for instance group tasks altered to pair or solo tasks, practical tasks requiring equipment (e.g. science/engineering) completed at a later date or where necessary theoretically. Change of units if this is via an adaptation you can do this at any time without charge (for instance substituting a practical unit for a theoretical unit). Extension of assignment deadlines. Cross-referencing work across units. In extreme circumstances extend past FAB. www.skillsandeducationgroupaccess.co.uk | 01924 434601 | @SEG_Access

  8. Extenuations In extraordinary circumstances some students/centres may have circumstances which, despite adaptations, cannot complete some work. Examples; A student contracts Covid and suffers with long Covid for a period of a few months, the rest of her work is good, but she has underperformed in 2 assignments and was unable to submit one assignment. You can apply for grade adjustments for the 2 completed units and use extenuation to get her credited for the missed unit. A group of students had an agency tutor who performed poorly and could not be replaced due to multiple tutors being ill. The students were unable to complete the assignments set by the agency tutor. A student with learning difficulties struggled to learn online due to a lack of one to one support, they were unable to complete the assignment. www.skillsandeducationgroupaccess.co.uk | 01924 434601 | @SEG_Access

  9. Before you Go - Preparing for Term One Things to consider What is on your job list from now until Christmas? Start at the end and work backwards: What is your planned Final Awards Board date? What is your last assessment deadline? What is the list of units that your students will be taking? Do you have enough time to assess, IM before EM visit One, and in readiness for FM visit? What is your strategy for IM? Are there bottlenecks for assessments do you know when other assessments are taking place across the Diploma? Can any assessments be mapped? Think about adaptations you made this year, can they be made permanent? When do you have to register students on Skills and Education Group Access Portal? Is this the same time as registering units for those students? www.skillsandeducationgroupaccess.co.uk | 01924 434601 | @SEG_Access
