The AU Gender Achievements spans over a decade, with a focus on pre-summits and strategies for enhanced impact. Beginning with the establishment of the AU Gender Pre-Summit in 2009, subsequent milestones marked a new phase of inclusivity and involvement of key stakeholders such as AU Ministers of gender and Women's Affairs. The AU Gender Pre-Summit evolved to engage CSOs and ministers, culminating in key achievements like the adoption of the AU Theme for 2015 focused on women's empowerment towards Agenda 2063. Inclusivity and ownership of the AU Gender Pre-Summit were emphasized, leading to a more comprehensive and impactful approach.
