UMB's Draft Core Values Feedback and Survey Results
University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) conducted a virtual town hall to unveil draft updated core values and gathered feedback through a survey from students, faculty, and staff. The survey included questions on alignment with personal values, community perceptions, and adoption. Results indicated varying levels of alignment for different core values among participants from different sectors of the university. The feedback process aimed to shape UMB's strategic plan for 2022-2026.

As part of its 2022-2026 Strategic Plan process, the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) revealed a draft set of updated core values at a virtual town hall April 1, 2021, then surveyed students, faculty, and staff on what they thought about the possible changes.

Town Hall Survey 1. Town Hall participants and the general UMB community were urged to complete a core values survey between April 5-12, 2021. 2. The survey combined quantitative and open-ended questions for each proposed core value, along with an opportunity for feedback about core values overall. 3. About 200 responses were received for the survey: Students: 9% Faculty 26% Staff 65%

All schools were represented, with the greatest participation from University administration (34%); the School of Medicine (23%); the School of Nursing (15%); and the School of Social Work (9%) 5. Within University administration, the greatest participation was from Administration & Finance (62%); Academic and Student Affairs (13%); and the Office of Research and Development (10%).
Town Hall Survey Questions 1. The same questions were asked for all four proposed core values using a 5-point Likert scale: a. How well does the proposed core value align with your personal and professional values? b. In your opinion, how well does the proposed core value align with current values of UMB faculty, staff, and students? c. In your opinion, how well does the proposed core value reflect UMB? d. How strongly do you feel that the proposed core value should be adopted as a UMB core value?
