Staff Town Hall February 8, 2021 @ 3:15 p.m. Approximately 44 participants 32 staff and faculty Central Office Staff Questions Raised What will happen to displaced staff if Option Three is chosen? Teachers would enter the transfer process in Spring of 2022 Would be given priority in the process Would families have a preference in terms of schools to attend? Considering choice schools and the ability to provide transportation Depends on capacity at other schools

Staff Town Hall Questions Raised by Staff and Faculty How would we honor the legacy of T.C. Berrien? Building would retain the name Will be a point of consideration if option three is selected What will happen to the building? Will it be renovated at some point? Will obtain direction from the BOE considering repurposing the building Will depend on funding and a number of other factors Standards differ depending on use of the building and occupancy

Staff Town Hall Questions Raised What will happen with class size limits if students are moved to a different school? State-required class sizes will not be exceeded Will be a point of consideration if option three is selected The school is very important to the community, so why can we not rebuild it from the ground up? A new school would cost $30 - $40 million Funding at this level is not available at this time

Staff Town Hall Questions Raised If we redistrict, how can we prevent the negative stigma that comes along with having to move to a new location? Children would not be identified as coming from T.C Berrien Would be no different than a new student coming into the district from another county This is a culture issue that would have to be addressed with staff at receiving schools

Staff Town Hall Additional Comments and Concerns Concerned about the number of times students will have to be moved Risks of future building issues, even if renovations and repairs occur, resulting in more moves for students Staying at W.T. Brown gives students security for the next couple of years Several Berrien staff members stated Option Three appears to be the best option moving forward for our students

Family Town Hall February 8, 2021 @ 6:00 p.m. Approximately 35 participants 13 Families 1 County Commissioner 3 Board of Education Members Several Central Services Staff

Family Town Hall Questions and Concerns Raised by Families Are there any closer schools than W.T. Brown? Keeping students at W.T. Brown (Options Two and Three) would provide more stability and minimize additional moves There isn t a closer school in which we could keep all Berrien students together W.T. Brown is quite a distance for students to attend school there for an additional period of time. Little communication over the past year Ready to move on

Family Town Hall Questions and Concerns Raised by Families Options One and Two do not seem feasible Move forward with a plan for Option Three Option three is the most realistic

Family Town Hall Staff and Families were invited to submit additional comments and questions through CCS FeedBack Shared the Town Hall Recordings via e-mail to families and asked for additional input Response - Do not feel comfortable with sending child to another school
