  1. Graduation Requirements 4 UNITS OF ENGLISH/LANGUAGE ARTS 4 UNITS OF MATH 4 UNITS OF SCIENCE 3 UNITS OF SOCIAL STUDIES 1 UNIT OF HEALTH/PERSONAL FITNESS 3 UNITS OF CTAE/WORLD LANG/ FINE ARTS 4 UNITS OF GENERAL ELECTIVES 23 TOTAL UNITS

  2. Understanding Transcripts Classes that end in a 2 are from 1stsemester and students receive .5 credits Classes that end in a 3 are from 2ndsemester and students receive .5 credits Classes that end in 00 are block and students receive 1.0 credits Classes that end in 1 are semester only classes and students receive .5 credits Weighted GPA includes Honors and AP points Unweighted GPA takes the Honors and AP points out. This is not their HOPE GPA

  3. Honors /AP/DE classes on transcripts Students are awarded 5 additional points if they take and pass an honors class Students are awarded 10 additional points if they take and pass an AP level class Students are awarded 10 additional points if they take a core academic DE class

  4. Credits needed to be promoted to the next grade To be promoted to the 10thgrade you need 5 credits To be promoted to the 11thgrade you need 11 credits To be promoted to the 12thgrade you need 17 credits

  5. Credits that can be earned in middle school 9thLit Algebra I Spanish I ( student must take Spanish in 7thand 8th grade)

  6. Testing Requirements No testing requirements EOC test are 20% and must count as the final EOC classes Econ US His Alg I Alg II 9thLit 11thLit Biology Physical science

  7. Test out option for EOC classes Students can test out of one of the 8 EOC classes. Students must take the EOC for that class before attending that class This is usually done the Summer before they take the class They must score an exceeds on the EOC to test out.

  8. Why take Honors / AP classes ? HOPE takes away the 5 and 10 points So Why take the classes? Academic rigor Admission to College Better prepares you for post-secondary

  9. HOPE MUST MAINTAIN A 3.0 FOR ALL 4 YRS YOU LOSE THE POINTS AWARDED FOR HONORS AND AP CLASSES Get a .5 added back in AP classes ONLY COUNTS YOUR CORE ACADEMIC AND FOREIGN LANGUAGE CTAE classes that count as a core academic can also count toward HOPE Ex. 3rdyear Foods Class (Foods Science)

  10. HOPE High school classes taken in middle school do not count toward HOPE GPA. Does not pay for remedial classes No book or fee allowances Once HOPE is awarded if student falls below a 3.0 while in college they can only regain HOPE one time. HOPE GPA is checked at the 30 hrs, 60hrs, 90 hrs

  11. HOPE Pays a portion of tuition at a public university for 15 hrs per semester Has a cap of 127 hours Pays up to $3800 per semester for private institutions. Meet academic rigor requirement Must have 4 courses that are Rigorous

Zell Miller Same requirements as HOPE ( Rigor etc.) GPA must be 3.7 in same core classes 1200 SAT combined reading and math on one test day Or 26 ACT on one test day Will pay full tuition public university still no fees are paid Maintain 3.3 while in college Will pay $4000/yr for 15 hrs for private institutions

  14. HOPE Grant Only available for students going to TCSG There is no Min GPA required to qualify Must maintain a 3.0 while in college

Purpose of Pathways To expose students to possible careers Many students choose pathways based off what friends take not their own interest When looking at pathways it is good to talk about jobs that are related to the pathway GA Futures is a great resource for these jobs and it will list income potential

  16. What is a pathway completer A student who successfully completes 3 classes in a sequence To earn a cord at graduation the student must also pass the End of Pathway test.

Science) Transportation & Logistics (Auto)

  19. World Language Pathways at EPHS Spanish French

  20. Move On When Ready Available to students in grades 9-12 You are not using any of your HOPE money Can take up to 15 hrs per semester There is no cost at this time (Books/Fees etc) You can go fulltime or partime Ex. 2 DE classes and 2 classes here Ex. 4 DE classes is considered fulltime at 12hrs Different schools have different entrance requirements most require SAT or ACT

  21. Move On When Ready Students have to provide their own transportation Begin researching in Oct of the year prior to starting. Ex. KSU registration is in Dec for the upcoming school year. Must sign agreement with school once you get accepted by College You cannot take minimum day with MOWR.
