English: 4 Credits
English I, II, III and IV

be aligned with the student’s post high school plans

Earth/Environmental Science, Biology and a Physical Science
course (either Physics or Chemistry)

World History, Civics and Economics, & US History 1 & 2

required for graduation but is required for
admission to the UNC system
Health & Physical Education: 1 Credit
Health/PE
Arts Education: 1 Credit
A course in the Fine Arts (band, chorus, orchestra,
theater, visual arts)

J.H. Rose High School provides comprehensive counseling services to help students focus on academic, personal/social, and career development for success in school and society. The school follows Future-Ready Core Graduation Requirements including credits in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health & Physical Education, and Arts Education. Additionally, students must fulfill concentration requirements in various disciplines. Electives and other mandates, such as state testing proficiency and completion of the Graduation Project, are part of the graduation criteria. Students need a total of 28 credits to graduate.
