Future-Ready Graduation Requirements and Counseling Services at J.H. Rose High School
J.H. Rose High School provides comprehensive counseling services to help students focus on academic, personal/social, and career development for success in school and society. The school follows Future-Ready Core Graduation Requirements including credits in English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, Health & Physical Education, and Arts Education. Additionally, students must fulfill concentration requirements in various disciplines. Electives and other mandates, such as state testing proficiency and completion of the Graduation Project, are part of the graduation criteria. Students need a total of 28 credits to graduate.

*Future-Ready Core Graduation Requirements English: 4 Credits English I, II, III and IV Mathematics: 4 Credits NC Math I, NC Math II, NC Math III, and a 4thMath course to be aligned with the student s post high school plans Science: 3 Credits Earth/Environmental Science, Biology and a Physical Science course (either Physics or Chemistry) Social Studies: 4 Credits World History, Civics and Economics, & US History 1 & 2
*Future-Ready Core Graduation Requirements Second Language: Not required for graduation but is required for admission to the UNC system Health & Physical Education: 1 Credit Health/PE Arts Education: 1 Credit A course in the Fine Arts (band, chorus, orchestra, theater, visual arts)
*Future-Ready Core Concentration *4 Credits in Career and Technical Education OR *4 Credits in JROTC OR *4 Credits in an Art Discipline OR *4 Credits in a Second Language OR *4 Credits in Advanced Placement OR *4 Credits in College Courses OR *4 Credits within one of the following areas: English, Math, Science, or Social Studies (Excluding courses that meet other graduation requirements)
*Electives and other Requirements *Mini concentration - 2 Electives must be any combination within Career and Technical Education, Arts Education, or Second Language (both credits in the same language) *Proficiency on state required testing, including a score at proficient level on End-of-Course tests for English 2, Biology and Math 1 *Successful completion of the Graduation Project *Total of 28 credits

*Attendance The student may be absent no more than ten (10) periods per course in order to receive credit. You must be present for at least 1 hour of the class to be counted present.
