Hollins High School's new student orientation welcomes the Class of 2027 with a focus on rising and shining, setting expectations, responsibilities, safety procedures, and security processes. Their mission is to be the best public high school in Florida, developing future leaders for careers yet to be imagined. In the past five years, they have seen a 20% increase in graduation rates and have won the Nerdvana Robotics State Championship. The school boasts new facilities, including a Culinary Restaurant, Academy of Entertainment Arts Building, and a state-of-the-art college student center. Safety and Security # 1 Priority All school classroom doors will be locked throughout day All exterior gates will remained locked during school hours Closed Campus all visitors/parents must be cleared to enter the secure area of school /front office utilizing Badge Pass photo ID required Permits to leave are granted with a note please have student bring to AP office when possible schedule appointments after 2 pm No Permits to leave will be granted 30 minutes prior to end of day or after 1:25 pm Safety and Security Drills will be practiced once a quarter in coordination with our SRO s, Pinellas County Sherriff and Schools Police Questions and review will be done with classroom teacher School s website has link with information it will be updated periodically

  10. In it to win it!!! We need you to be in school on time We need you here all day 4 periods The single most important factor in determining your success and graduation is attendance! Excused absence notes should be turned into Clerk in grade level administration office within 48 hours We need more than a phone call !

  12. See Something Say Something Bullying or harassment of any kind will not be tolerated Posting threats reposting threats spreading dangerous rumors are serious offenses punishable by law!

Anti Social Media as found by Pew Research Inadequate sleep teens stayed up late to continue scrolling through their social media feeds Exposure to cyberbullying having harmful, false, or private content about them posted on social media Lack of physical activity scrolling social media on their phones or other devices meant that teens sat for longer periods of time and had less time for exercise. As a result, they missed out on the beneficial impacts of exercise on mental health.

  16. Tardy Process: Periods 1 & 2 After bell students report to front office to receive tardy ticket and then proceed directly to class. Fourth & subsequent tardies one hour detention Periods 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 - Automatic one hour detention for all tardies any other periods tardy sweeps will be regularly utilized ABS for missed detentions

  17. Lunch Zone Will be in Cafeteria/Media Center/ Student Center/Cornerstone/Science and courtyard between 100 and 200 wings Let s Eat! Students can eat in teacher classrooms with their approval and supervision. NO students will be allowed in hallways One Lunch Patience Please Every student who wants lunch will get lunch Bring lunch, snacks, water Snack machines and beverage machines available Students can go to teacher s room to eat/tutoring as long as supervised by teacher

  18. ELP: Monday Thursday 2pm -3 pm in Media Center All core content areas represented Tutoring, Mentoring, Extra help, make up work, SATPractice.org, lab time daily Small group pull outs to work with specific students behavior, academic, SAT/ACT Test Preparation

  19. DRESS FOR SUCCESS PLAN All shirts and blouses must cover midriff, back, sides, and all undergarments including bra straps AT ALL TIMES. All shirts, tops, and dresses shall have sleeves and cover the shoulders Shorts, skirts, divided skirts dresses and culottes MUST BE MID-THIGH ORLONGER All clothing, jewelry, or tattoos shall be free from: profanity, violent or sexual images or suggestions; gang related symbols, alcohol, tobacco, drugs or advertisements for such products

ADDITIONALLY Sport bras CANNOT be worn as a top Clothing must be appropriately sized and worn at the waist secure and in place when not being held Clothing should not have inappropriate holes/tears revealing undergarments No hats or head coverings except for P.E. activities No sunglasses may be worn inside without doctor s note No bandanas or sweatbands

  21. SPECIFICALLY STUDENTS CAN USE TECHNOLOGY BEFORE SCHOOL DURING LUNCH AND IN BETWEEN CLASSES - The student should be aware and able to respond to any request or directive given by any adult on our campus.

  22. Graduation Requirements (24 Credits) Four English credits Four Mathematics credits One HOPE credit Three Science credits (rigorous credits only) Three Social Science credits (1 World History, 1 US History, American Government, and Economics) One Fine or Performing Art credit 2.0 Unweighted Grade Point Average (GPA) Pass FAST 10th grade Reading Pass Algebra 1 End of Course Exam (other EOCs count as 30% of final grade)

  23. Things to know Students can view their schedule on Focus. Students will arrive and proceed directly to their first period class. Back to School forms are electronic and available through www.pcsb.ort/backtoschoolforms Please use Focus to review your child s academic progress and attendance. Passwords are distributed through guidance office. Our School number 547-7876 (Call for any questions)) PCS Connects all students will be given a pcsb laptop for use laptop should be brought to school every day fully charged. Laptops will be utilized on all state assessments PCSB Transportation Missing bus, late bus, questions 727-587-2020 Lockers distributed as needed through bookkeeping -$1.00
