Graduation Requirements ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA English English 9 English 10 English 11 English 12 Mathematics Algebra I Geometry Algebra II or Algebra II/Trig Math Elective 4 Physical Education (ROTC will meet this requirement) 1 1 1 1 1 Health Health Education 0.5 0.5 4 Career Preparedness Career Preparedness Course 1 1 1 1 1 1 CTE, and/or Foreign Language, and/or Arts Education 3 credits taken from these areas in any combination. Graduation Requirements ALABAMA HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA WITH ADVANCED HONORS ENDORSEMENT Student must pass core requirements at Honors (HR), Advanced Placement (AP), or Dual Enrollment (DE) level Student must pass 4 years of English instruction at HR, AP, or DE level Student must pass Algebra I and Geometry as one semester courses Student must pass HR Algebra II with Trig and one other HR, AP, or DE level Mathematics credit. Student must pass HR Biology, CP Chemistry 1, CP or AP Physics, and one other upper level Science Credit Student must pass 4 years of Social Studies instruction at HR, AP, or DE level Student must pass 2 credits in same World Language Student must earn a minimum of 30 credits Student must maintain a 3.5 GPA (cumulative grade point average), have acceptable attendance, and acceptable conduct record Note: Beginning in the 2013-2014 school year, all MCPSS seniors will be required to complete a career portfolio to meet graduation requirements.

5. Promotion Standards Freshman: Successfully complete 8thgrade Sophomore: To obtain sophomore standing, student must successfully complete 7 credits Junior: To obtain junior standing, student must successfully complete 14 credits Senior: To obtain senior standing, student must successfully complete 20 credits

6. Transcript/Credits Your transcript is a permanent record! Every scheduled class effects your GPA (Grade Point Average). Classes must be passed with 60% or better to receive credit. Credit(s) will be restricted on the basis of excessive, unexcused absences from class.

7. 4-year Education Plan A COMPLETED Four-year Education Plan of Study will be required to be promoted to the 10thgrade and to be classified as a high school sophomore. College & Career Exploration Interest Inventories ePortfolio Parent email address needed

8. The Pre Act empowers 10thgrade students with a unique ACT test practice experience. Scores provide valuable insights into students predicted performance on the ACT. Pre ACT reporting includes academic and career indicators which are designed to identify strengths and area for improvement.

9. B. C. Rain Career Academies Aviation and Aerospace Communication and Arts Technology Information Technology Leadership (ROTC) Ninth grade students will be exposed to a variety of options through the required JROTC course. Upon completing ninth grade, all students are required to select an academy course for the upcoming school year. Academics, behavior, and attendance are considered in academy placement.

10. Attendance * Behavior * Academics Students are required to be on time for school daily. A student absent from class more than four (4) unexcused days for any full credit course per term or two (2) unexcused days for any half credit course per term shall not receive credit, unless approved by principal. Four tardies to the same class shall constitute one absence for said class. It is solely the student s responsibility to request make-up work and tests from the teacher within two days of returning to school. Student are expected to follow all local school policies and the MCPSS Discipline Policy. Daily attendance and positive behavior promotes academic achievement!

11. Helpful Hints Designate a place and time to study each day!!! Write down both long and short term goals! Work to achieve them!!! Research Your College/Trade Begin researching college(s) of interest and their requirements (www.al.kuder.com) !!! Ask Questions!!! Don t procrastinate!!!
