What is a Registered Apprenticeship? It s a TRAINING PLAN that Provides businesses with skilled staff who can meet their unique needs Benefits career seekers with little to no prior experience Is recognized by the United States Department of Labor

Registered Apprenticeship: Guidelines Employer Sponsor: A single employer that must have physical location in the state of Idaho Apprentices must be employees afforded the same benefits as any other employee Group Sponsor: An association, college, tribe, union, etc. that has a physical location in the state of Idaho Must have at least one employer to that will be utilizing the program
What Kind of Businesses Do Best? ApprenticeshipIdaho: What and Why Businesses: With one or more employees Who cannot find talent with the skills they need Who have unique training needs That have identified gaps in training that impacts their bottom line Identified the need for succession planning to address retirees exiting Would like to connect with talent pipelines that we have partnered with in Registered Apprenticeship Interested hiring in school youth with the STRAP benefit of RA Interested becoming GI Bill Approved

Registered Apprenticeship: Process ApprenticeshipIdaho: What and Why Submit the program to the USDOL Office of Apprenticeship for approval Draft the program and send it to the employer for signatures Meet with the employer and go through the discovery process
Registered Apprenticeship: Process ApprenticeshipIdaho: What and Why Provide support and guidance for the lifetime of the sponsorship with USDOL required administrative responsibilities Provide talent pipeline referrals (WIOA, Youth Apprenticeship, IDOC, VR, GI Bill) Once approved, the sponsor is connected to our Technical Assistance Support Staff
Registered Apprenticeship: Preparation Best way to prep your client: Verify they meet the basic guidelines Provide them resources: Apprenticeship Idaho Toolkit https://www.apprenticeship.gov/ Have the client identify the occupations they are struggling to fill Assist with scheduling the meeting to discuss development
