Club’s main annual fundraiser
Last year’s event was canceled due to the
COVID-19 pandemic - WYSA didn’t sanction any
club tournaments in 2020. It was the first time
since 1989 that we didn’t hold a tournament.
We’re back (hopefully): Oct. 1-3, 2021.
Andrea Lang
 and
Robert Zimmerman
 are the
tournament co-directors

Fall 2020 Recap

26 teams held socially distanced practices, following club policies that
incorporated U.S. Soccer, WYSA and Public Health Madison-Dane County
guidelines.
16 teams took part in 72 competitions
40 State League games (6 teams)
32 MAYSA friendlies (16 Competitive, 12 Academy, 4 Recreational)
10 teams didn’t play any games/friendlies
We issued partial refunds to many players, based on the number of
games/competitions their teams were able to play.
One Oregon SC player tested positive for COVID-19 - during the last week of
practice (no games). One volunteer coach tested positive.

Spring 2021: General Information

Urgent need for referees in the Madison area - Information on courses is
available on Referees page on club website
Oregon SC has 29 teams 9U and older this spring:
14 Competitive teams (7 in WYSA State League, 7 in MAYSA)
15 Recreational teams (including six Academy teams)
High School-age players: Unique spring club season available for Girls in late
March and early April through MAYSA, before the WIAA season. Boys club
teams can’t start until the players’ WIAA seasons end.
Coaches: WYSA Risk Management now through Player’s Health.

April 5. Oregon SC scarves are always available.

Spring 2021: Field Information

Field closures: Be sure to become a member of
oregonsc.com
Currently, Oregon School District fields are not available for reservation.
The newest Village of Oregon park - the Highlands of Netherwood - will be
open this spring, and Oregon SC will have usage two days per week. The
area can be used as either a full-size field, or two 11U/12U fields.
We are requesting an extension from the Village to use some additional
parks that we were granted access to in 2020: Rustic Vineyard, Norm
Champion, Bergamont, Stone Ridge and Windcrest.
More on fields later in the Looking Ahead section

Spring 2021: Coaching Updates

David Brown
continues as our Acting Director of Coaching. Currently, he is
operating in a reduced role as he is awaiting the approval of his U.S. work
permit. Until he receives that document, he is allowed to volunteer for the club
but cannot be paid. He will coach three Competitive teams this spring.
Ashante Odogun-Williams
will also return as a Competitive team coach this
spring. We have two new coaches,
Giovanni Bonilla-Flores
 and
Rafael Rosas
,
who will coach Competitive teams and serve as our Academy trainers.
We are actively recruiting for a goalkeeping coach, who will provide weekly
sessions offered for all Academy and Competitive goalkeepers.

Spring 2021: COVID-19 Protocols

MAYSA has new COVID-19 guidelines that all member clubs should use for
Spring 2021 - they combine U.S. Soccer, WYSA and Forward Dane guidelines
and have been approved by Public Health Madison-Dane County.
Linked throughout our website and on MAYSA website (
maysa.org
)
Policies are in effect for all MAYSA games, even those not in Dane County
For games outside MAYSA/Dane County, Oregon SC teams will follow the local
public health guidelines. The Board will reconsider this policy if needed.
We are considering putting up signs on our home fields to remind players,
coaches, referees and spectators of the mask requirement

Looking Ahead: Fields

We continue to monitor the fundraising project for the Jaycee Park West
Renovation project and attend virtual meetings with other groups.
Both versions of the preliminary plans for Keller/Alpine Westside Park, which
were presented to the Village Planning Commission in February, showed four
multi-use athletic fields. We feel strongly that these fields are needed in the
Village. There is a shortage of green space athletic fields in the Village right
now, and all groups are expecting to see significant growth in the coming
years due to the projected enrollment increase in the Oregon School District.
Additionally, with all fields in the Village being natural grass and no drainage
tiles, we have concerns about wear and tear of constant use.

Looking Ahead: Uniforms

We will have new Competitive and Academy uniforms starting in the 2021-22
season. There was not an option from adidas to continue using the same style
of uniforms, so we decided to go in a different direction. Still adidas, though.
We are the final stages of an agreement to continue our partnership with
Oregon Community Bank, which is now known as One Community Bank, to
continue as our jersey sponsor for Competitive and Academy uniforms.
Recreational uniforms will remain the same.
