  3. 2020/2021 Review What a couple of years!.. challenges it brought Difficult decisions to change the Operating Model of the academy. Like most tennis clubs, we now rely on our fantastic volunteers. Moving forward with no staff costs or tennis coach retainers is and has saving/saved approx. 3,500 per month since July 2020. Thanks to Paul and Dave from Roar Gym for the continued very positive relationship we enjoy. New joint membership now available. Introduction of new client to WTA . Moo Music now use the clubhouse Tues through to Friday for Mother and Baby sessions. Regular Meetings Established with St P&P School to resolve some of the issues . Litter, Verbal Abuse and Entrance to Tennis Club for example. Unprecedented with COVID 19 and the

  4. 2020/2021 Review Court Utilisation Last 7 days v previous 7 days on a rolling average is 24.33% Indoor Court Peak Times however remain well used with the club programme, Members Bookings etc Some plans being considered to increase the court utilisation for 2022.

  5. We Did in 2020 New Indoor LED Floodlights fitted. Outdoor hardcourts repainted with members choice colour scheme. New Picnic Tables purchased through your support of the Bonus Ball. Defibrillator purchased with the generous help of Linda Orb and the Widnes Rotary Club and members who purchased 550.00 worth of raffle tickets. Electronic Access System to the Indoor Courts. Indoor courts all power cleaned, lines repainted and new backdrops fitted to the gable ends of the hall FOC. All work done by Volunteers. Comprehensive membership survey conducted resulting in a We Asked You Said We Did working paper that will be ongoing and repeated in 2022.

  6. We Did in 2021 New Pergola erected. New Central Heating System Installed in clubhouse and offices. Over 400 trees and shrubs planted or being planted. (15 19 Nov 2021) More New Picnic Tables purchased through your fantastic support of the Bonus Ball. Further Indoor court backdrops fitted behind all courts in purple. 6 camera CCTV Installed and operating providing better Security, Safeguarding and Health and Safety for all members and visitors. New Fire Alarm System Installed. Caf Deuce opened and operating successfully. Big Thanks to Helen. Membership increased to 320+ as of Oct 2021 which is just reward for all the hard work so big thank you to everyone for the fantastic support in 2021. New Main Sponsor Jem Recycling Group appointed. Also second sponsor appointed late October 2021, P.P. O Conner Demolition and Waste Company.

  8. Financial Overview 2019 and 2020 Financial Reports prepared by Bramhall Morris Accountants which has been filed at Companies House and are available on request. Email Chris Roberts on chris.roberts1604@gmail.com and he will send you a copy. Changed our accountants from Whitnall's to Bramhall Morris in late 2020. The Directors settled a legal claim from Whitnall's mid 2020 for 3,000. They were claiming 5,900. Now using Xero accounting platform which is simplifying the way we produce the financial reports and submit our VAT returns. The academy is now on a stable sustainable financial footing and has a healthy 68,000+ Sinking Fund. The new operating Model is aimed at providing a 20,0000 to 25,000 margin of which 16,000 will go into the sinking fund each year.

Tennis Programme Change in how the WTA tennis programme operates, Andrew Beswick Tennis Services has taken ownership of the tennis programme and tennis activities on a contracted services basis in 2020. The Club continues to receive funding from the LTA as one of 55 Local Player Development Centres (LPDC) across the country. This will cease in 2022. Anthony Green and Jade Hitchcock have left the coaching team in 2020. The Directors and I would like to sincerely thank Tony for all his efforts over his decade at the club, leaving a legacy that we are now building on. We also wish Jade well and thank her for her services over the last few years. Mark Hunter has been appointed as Head of Performance in 2020 and is doing a superb job. Lauren Banks has been appointed and again is doing brilliant in her first 6 months. Callum Gowling has joined the coaching team with a real focus on sports psychology. The performance tennis programme now offers strength and conditioning sessions. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 planned school visits and roadshow events had to be cancelled in 2020 and part 2021. New School Initiatives developed for 2022 with local secondary schools. The Tennis programme continues to be popular and is currently fully booked as of 31 Oct 2021. The Coaching programme covers all ages from 5 upwards.

  18. What's On 2022 Full 2021 Programme sent out to all members via email and was available to view in the clubhouse. Different Format next year 2022 with new Events Notice Board fitted at Clubhouse entrance and will show upcoming events. However some Main Dates for your 2022 Diary are: Start of Tennis Season 19 and 21 April 2022 TBC by WDLTA Joint Open/Fun Day 09/10 July 2022 Club Tournament 03 and 04 Sept 2022 AGM 09 November 2022

  19. Thank Yous Volunteers So many unsung heroes out there giving time up in 2020/2021 to support the club so a humble thank you from the all the Directors and Committee Members. Bez, Mark, Lauren, Callum, and the extended coaching team. All the members of the Lane Tennis Club Committee and sub groups All those who contribute in so many ways to the success of LTC and WTA, from parents running junior teams to people turning out to support events. Thanks to my fellow Directors Alison Schofield and Chris Roberts. Special thanks also to Adam Owen and Jo Mclean for fantastic commitment for no tangible reward, putting all the gift aid work together and the support they provided when they were Directors until end of 2020. Paul and his Dad from the Gym for their continued professional commitment to WTA Helen Jackson for working so hard to get Caf Deuce up and running. Special thanks to Neil Barber, Mark Payton and Simon Truscott for all their efforts as Directors. Also a big thank you to Trevor, Joan and Lucy for their support and commitment over the last years until July 2020. Big Congratulations to Neil Barber for earning his Lifetime Membership Award, Thoroughly well deserved for someone who has served the club so well over 4 decades. Mr John Woodroofe agreed and is honoured to continue as the clubs Honorary President.

WTA 2021 - 2025 Objectives Retaining memberships Treat all members fairly and with respect Reinvesting membership fees into constantly improving and maintaining the facilities. Service Contracts now established for Sewerage and Fire Alarms as an example. Provide a varied and exciting tennis programme Provide the opportunity to compete in the appropriate tennis leagues Securing financial sustainability Ensuring the finances are managed responsibly and with transparency Work closely with the LTA and Sports England to gain grants and other financial support

WTA 2021 - 2025 Objectives Maximising court and club utilisation Utilising the excellent facilities to generate more income (Padel Courts and Moo Music) Allowing other suitable sports to use the indoor facilities (Cricket on Friday night) Offering block bookings to members at reduced rates Offering block bookings to other tennis clubs Strengthening your governance Giving every member a voice in how the academy and club is run (Survey conducted 2020 and scheduled for every two years) also Suggestion Box near Directors/Committee Office Conducting 2 yearly elections for Directors and Committee members

  24. Main Proposals for 2022. The Directors are attempting to Secure funding and build 2 new Padel Courts. DRAFT Business plan available and sent out via email to all members to browse through. Also copies displayed in the clubhouse. Change of name to Widnes Tennis Club has been approved by the Directors .. Dropping Widnes Tennis Academy and Lane Tennis Club. This now needs to be registered with Companies House and HMRC. Increase Social Playing Member Fee to 65 from 55 an increase of 10 has been agreed with the Directors. Existing Social Playing Members Fees will increase on renewal.

  25. Name Change? The reasons behind changing the name of our wonderful facility. Confusion between Widnes Tennis Academy and Lane Tennis Club. Potential new members think Academy represents elitist tennis players. Lot of effort put into recreating CLUB feeling mentality so should be reflected in the name. Widnes Tennis Club . Simple No Confusion Proud to be in Widnes
