FY 2023 Background USDA allocated Oregon $269,737 ODE will use 5% for administrative costs Available funds - $256,250.15 Grants will help purchase equipment with a value of greater than $1,000 - $50,000 Purpose to provide equipment: Needed to serve healthier meals Support scratch cooking Improve food safety Support establishment, maintenance or expansion of the School Breakfast Program FY 2023 NSLP Equipment Assistance Grants for SFAs Oregon Department of Education 5
Grant Basics Who can apply? Local Education Agencies (LEAs) who operate NSLP/SBP 2023-24 What equipment qualifies? Equipment costs = with a value of greater than $1,000 up to $50,000 Can be new equipment or replacement of equipment What about ancillary/installation costs? Ancillary/installation costs should be included in the application packet Oregon Department of Education 6
Equipment Definition 2CFR 200.33 Equipment means tangible personal property (including information technology systems) having a useful life of more than one year and a per-unit acquisition cost which equals or exceeds the lesser of the capitalization level established by the non-Federal entity for financial statement purposes, or $5,000. For FY 2023 NSLP Equipment Assistance Grants, Congress has specified the threshold for equipment purchase cannot be lower than $1000 Oregon Department of Education 7
