Expected Behavior RULES Follow directions the first time given Stay on task Be prepared Keep arms, hands, feet and objects to yourself No swearing, crude gestures or cruel teasing Great Expectations is about Respect

Disruption of Instruction 1stOffense: Student/Teacher conference, 2ndOffense: Make Parent Contact, and turn in to administrator 3rdOffense: Team Conference with student, parent, teachers, and administrators. Referral to appropriate administrator.

PROFANITY Student/Teacher conference Parent Conference/Team conference intervention Three days in-school suspension with parent conference Three/five days suspension, possible long- term suspension/hearing for severe offenses

Sexual Misconduct 1stOffense: Counseling with student, parent, administrator, police for possible solutions, possible suspension depending on extent of harassment 2ndOffense: Three-ten days suspension with parent, administrator, police and counselor present for conference Serious offenses can result in long-term suspension Severity of offense determines the level

Fighting 1stOffense: Three - Five days suspension, ticket and taken to CIC 2ndOffense: Long-term suspension, ticket, taken to CIC, parent conference, and/or alternative placement This includes verbal altercations

Bullying: On-going Harassment, Intimidation Intervention Referral to administrator and parent contact Student/Parent Conference Five days suspension/ticket Suspension and Long-term hearing scheduled

Cell Phones Signed contract for all students who want to bring a phone to school on file. Phones allowed during breakfast and lunch. All phones, ear plugs, electronic devices, and/or any other wireless telecommunication device MUST be turned OFF when students enter halls & ALL other areas in the building.

CELL PHONE/COMMUNICATION DEVICE OFFENSES: 1stoffense: phone is confiscated BY TEACHER AND THEN GIVEN BACK AT THE END OF THE HOUR 2ndoffense: phone is confiscated and GIVEN TO THE grade level administrator 3rdoffense: Phone is confiscated, turned in to administrator, parent notified, possible loss of phone privilege, ISI (See Contract)

SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS Surveillance cameras are located throughout the building for added security. Administrators have access to footage throughout the day for clarity of specific situations.

JOHN MARSHALL DRESS CODE POLICY 2018-2019 PANTS, SLACKS, SKIRTS, SHORTS, CAPRIS AND DRESSES Selected from khaki and school-designated colors- (any color jeans, athletic shorts, joggers, etc. ) Fastened at waist, except for dresses. Sagging or low rise clothing is inappropriate for school. Leggings may be worn under skirts, skorts, or dresses. Hemlines must be of modest length at or below the student s fingertip with arm fully extended. *Pants with holes above the knee must have tights or leggings worn underneath * No sagging will be allowed

JOHN MARSHALL DRESS CODE POLICY 2018-2019 SHIRTS Selected from white and school-designated colors (All Colors/JM shirts/College/Thunder) Long or short-sleeved with or without collars as designated by school. No Vulgar/Gang-related/Drugs or Alcohol references Buttoned or zipped appropriately. *No crop-tops, belly-shirts, spaghetti straps, tank tops or off-the-shoulder tops

JOHN MARSHALL DRESS CODE POLICY 2018-2019 Any color hoodies, sweaters, sweatshirts, letterman s jackets and school club/team jackets can be worn in classrooms. (per OKCPS dress code, no lewd, suggestive, alcohol/drug pictures or ads allowed on any clothing) Large Coats may not be worn inside the building during school unless the principal makes an exception if the school is unusually cold, but shall be worn to school and placed in the student s locker or hung in the student s classroom or another location designated by the Principal. All John Marshall teams and organizations may wear uniform or dress as designated by the Athletic Director, Coach and/Administrative team, on game days.

JOHN MARSHALL DRESS CODE POLICY 2018-2019 HATS, JEWELRY AND ACCESSORIES Caps, hats, or head coverings including scarves, bandanas, do- rags,and sweatbands are not worn in school building. Exceptions include a head covering associated with student s religious beliefs, for medical reasons, or as approved by school administration for a special school activity (JM Team hats, visors) Jewelry and accessories which pose a safety concern for the student or others are prohibited. No Vulgar/Gang-related/Drugs or Alcohol references SHOES Shoes are required at all times on school property and school buses. Shoelaces must be tied. Flip-flops, Slides, beach or pool shoes, and house shoes are not acceptable for school.

Dress Code Violation Consequences Student calls home for dress code compliant clothing Parent contact by administrator and in-school suspension Parent contact by administrator and three days in-school suspension

Students must remove outer wear and walk through scanners with appropriate attire. Belts need to be removed prior to going through scanning Students go through the scanner at the gym door until 7:30 a.m. Students are allowed to enter the front door scanners after 7:30 a.m NO EXCEPTIONS! After Scanning, proceed to cafeteria until you are excused

LUNCH/BOUNDARIES Please clean up after yourself; no food leaves the cafeteria. NO HORSEPLAY! Do not leave the cafeteria/library/courtyard. If you PLAN TO LEAVE, YOU MUST HAVE A PASS.

OUTSIDE FOOD You can bring breakfast items with you, if you choose. After the school day has started no outside food is allowed. Do not call people to bring you outside food, as it will not be allowed into the building. Do not call and order outside food to be delivered. It will be confiscated.

ATTENDANCE POLICY Eleven (11) unexcused absences during the semester may result in a No Credit (NC)--you will have to retake the course. Students may be ticketed for skipping class, even if you are in the building. For excused absences, students will have up to 5 days (per district policy.) to make-up missing assignments. After the 5 day period, the student will receive a permanent zero in the grade book if work has not been completed. For unexcused absences, a student will have 3 days to turn in late work, with a 15% penalty each day toward the grade of that assignment.

TARDY POLICY You are tardy after the tardy bell rings. If you are 15 or more minutes late, that becomes an absence and your parent will be notified. 1sttardy =Warning, conference 3rdtardy=Parent contact 6th tardy=Referrals to Administrator

TRUANCY A student is considered truant when absent from the classroom without the knowledge of either the school/parent. If a student is absent from school four or more days or parts of days within a four week period without a valid excuse for eleven (11) or more days during a semester, the attendance officer will inform the parents that they are not in compliance with the law and will notify the district attorney for Oklahoma County. Ticket may be issued. Parents can be fined for each day their child is truant from school.

SKIPPING CLASS 1stOffense: Intervention Referral to administrator, parent contacted, possible ISI 2ndOffense: Three days in-school suspension (ISI), parent conference 3rdOffense: Five days in-school suspension (ISI), parent conference (Student and Parent may be fined by Court for Truancy)

School Activities A maximum of 10 days of activity absences, from any one class are permitted during a school year. Educational field trips do not count toward the 10 absences Please see Ms. Gina, the attendance clerk when you return from excused absences to ensure she has your documentation.

Buses Riding a bus is not a right and can be taken away if behavior is not appropriate. Be aware that buses are now outfitted with video cameras.

Student Drivers All students who drive to school must have proper documentation to drive (license and insurance verification). Take your documents to Msgt. sharp for a parking permit.

TINKER FEDERAL CREDIT UNION John Marshall is very fortunate to have a Tinker Federal Credit Union branch in the building. This is an actual bank and it functions as such. It s purpose is to train students for real-world bank or credit union teller jobs. HS students enrolled in the Finance Academy classes are eligible to work in the bank.

CLOSED CAMPUS All students are required to remain on campus throughout the entire school day. Only a parent/guardian can check you out. Students caught leaving campus, without being checked out, MAY be suspended for defiance of authority.

PARENT VISITATION Parents are welcome in our school, however, they must report to the main office and request to have their child sent to the main office. Appointments must be made to speak with teachers during the school day.
