Welcome back to School Iroquois Middle School 6thGrade Orientation
Mrs. Castone- 6th grade Counselor
Arrival Parent drop-off may begin at 7:15 AM at door 15. Students will go directly to the cafeteria and remain seated until released by staff. Our hall monitor will be located at door 15 to direct students to the cafeteria. For students that ride a bus, you will be dropped off at the front of the building. Bussing students will utilize three entrances: Doors 1, 2 & 29 based upon their proximity to those doors, administrators will help direct students to those doors.
Hallway Traffic & Behavior Hallways will have two-way traffic. Students must always stay on the right side of the hallway and keep moving forward. Lockers will not be utilized. Students will carry personal belongings from class to class. Students will continue to walk to their next location without stopping/congregating with peers. Masks are required.
Classroom Student desks will face one direction and will be distanced as much as possible. Seating charts will be made by the teacher. No lining up at the door at the end of a class period. Desks/Chairs will be sprayed with a cleaner as students depart classrooms. Once students enter their new classroom, they will be encouraged (not required) to wipe down their area.
Lunch Tables will be spaced out, with students seated in every other seat.(Do not sit on a paw. Paw on the seat = seat is taken.) Seating charts will be established according to 4th hour class to make getting hot lunch/snacks & entering/exiting as safe and efficient as possible. Lunch monitors will push garbage cans down rows to collect trash & at the same time they will spray tables. Students will be encouraged to help wipe down tables. Microwave(s) will not be available for student use. Snack line will be open with limited selection Students are required to be seated at their table unless they have communicated with lunchroom staff. All students will be run through the register by scanning their ID cards. All students will be offered both breakfast and lunch free. Service will start on a limited menu in an effort to move students as quickly as possible through the line. Double entrees and ala carte items will be available for purchase. To reduce the exchange of money, no change will be given. Excess funds will be deposited on the student s lunch account. Please encourage families to deposit funds online at www.sendmoneytoschool.com.
Dismissal Students riding a bus, will exit the same door they entered. (1,2, or 29) Students being picked up, will exit door 15. All students must exit the building by 3:00 PM unless they are participating in an extra-curricular activity. All students participating in an extra-curricular activity after school must be in their supervised location by 3:00 PM.
Hybrid Learning Schedule Students will be divided into A schedules and B schedules. A students will attend on Monday, Wednesday & Virtual Friday. (First day back will be January 25thfor Group A ) B students will attend on Tuesday, Thursday & Virtual Friday. (First day back will be January 26thfor Group B )
Health & Safety Procedures Face coverings must be worn at all times, with removal only for eating. This includes on the bus and in the parking lot, hallways, bathrooms, classrooms, and cafeteria (except while eating). Hand washing, distancing, cleaning surfaces during class exchanges and various personal protective equipment (i.e. gloves, face shields for staff, dividers in main office, etc.) Understand signs and symptoms of COVID-19. Stay home if you are not feeling well. Students should refer to the Health Screener that was sent out to all families from our school district.
