  1. Welcome to Pine Hill Middle School 6th Grade Parents and Students!

The Core Academic Team Teachers Are: Team 6A: Ms. Mills= Math & Social Studies / Team Leader Ms. Williams= Language Arts & Social Studies Ms. Legoas= Science & Social Studies Team 6B: Ms. Bennett = Math Ms. Istre (pronounced East )= Science/ Team Leader Ms. LaPrise= Language Arts Mrs. Zamora= Social Studies

  4. You will also have 2 Different Connections / PE Classes Students may choose to join Band or Chorus which would be an all year commitment during 1 of these connections times. The other classes that will be randomly assigned to the students are the following: Technology, P.E., Health, Music, Art, & Home Economics. Classes will be rotated every 9 weeks so that students will receive all of these experiences. Desk Dragon

  5. 6thGrade Math *Pre-Algebra *Ratios *Fractions *Proportions *Integers *Multiplication/Division Students need pencils and pencil sharpeners with covers. (They may NOT use pen in math!) Students need a 1.5-2 binder with dividers for math only.

Earth Science *soil, weathering, & erosion *rocks & minerals *water and its effect on Earth *Solar System *effects of weather *energy sources Homework will be written down in agendas on the first day of the week. It is also posted on the school webpage. Late homework is NOT accepted. Science Fair is a REQUIREMENT for all Richmond County Middle School Students. Written information and due dates will be sent home closer to time. (approx. Oct. or Nov.)

  7. Students will have time in class for silent reading, so they will need to carry a book at all times. Reading levels will be assessed three times throughout the year utilizing the STAR test.

  9. Important Conference Information All parent conferences are scheduled through the guidance office so that all 4 academic teachers may attend the meeting. Therefore, if at any time during the year you would like to make an appointment to meet with the teachers, please feel free to call Ms. O Rourke in the Guidance Office. Conferences are scheduled during the 6th grade Connections/PE block.

  10. We LOVE and Appreciate Parental Support!! These are some things you can do to help us to provide the best educational experience for your child:

  11. Check and sign the agenda/H.W. notebook every night after you go over the completed assignment with your child. (Yes, they still NEED you to do this even though it is Middle School!) Check grades in Infinite Campus Parent Portal frequently. If you do not know how to log in to the parent portal to check your child s grades, please check with the front office so they can help you. Help him/her with organization and making sure your child has the needed supplies (folders with assignments in them, pencils, paper, etc.). Please remember to check each teacher s class Echalk web page on the PHMS website on rcboe.org.

  12. To Be Successful at Pine Hill, PLEASE REMEMBER: 1. Adhere to the Richmond County Dress Code *no holes in clothing *shoes must have backs on them *dresses/shorts must be near the knee (even with leggings) *shirts must have sleeves *avoid low cut tops *pants must be pulled up *leggings/jeggings may not be worn 2. Replenish supplies frequently (daily) 3. No gum or candy in class 4. Leave all electronics at home (unless it is a Bring Your Own Technology Day and all paperwork has been completed for this!) 5. Homework is assigned- Make sure it is completed and turned in. 6. If in doubt, ask us. (Email is your best means of communication with us!)
