WWC phase 1 - Published in July 2020 together with R16 from 3GPP - Includes TR-456 Issue 1, TR-470 Issue 1, TR-124 Issue 6, TR-181 - KISS minimum viable product High running FN-RG support cases: Single IP session PPPoE or IPoE Single access 5G-RG, either wireline or FWA CPE, CPE management, AGF and overall architecture 5
WWC phase 2 TR-456 Issue 2, TR-470 Issue 2, TR-124 Issue 7, TR-181 Scheduled to be published in March 2022, based on R16 Content: unlock value, expand addressable market, refine specifications Multi-access scenarios, ATSSS, resilience, bandwidth aggregation Expand FN-RG support; multi session FMIF requirements to pull BNGs into the over all architecture (missed phase 2) CUPS to expand deployment options (missed phase 2) Deferred to be continued in phase 3: WT-457: FMIF functional requirements WT-458: CUPS for AGF 6
WWC phase 3, status January 2022 Need to finalize: - WT-457: FMIF functional requirements - WT-458: AGF for CUPS New Project launched: - Voice: IMS for 5G-RG Other potential items: - To be discussed in the phase 3 new items session 7
TR-470: 5G WWC architecture Issue 1, published July 2020 The 5G WWC architecture includes the set of functions and interfaces that realizes the use cases targeted by the BBF and 3GPP for the 3GPP Release 16, including network functions for adapting wireline access onto the 5G Core. Issue 2, scheduled to be published in March 2022 (Ballot Voting in progress) Addition of: - Multiple IP session support for FN-RGs - Additional authentication in the form of PAP/CHAP support for FN-RGs - Extensions to RG-LWAC - Use cases, clarification and guidance Issue 3 It will be updated via cross-referencing other TR, for example referencing the WT from project IMS for 5G-RG or WT-458 for AGF CUPS 8
TR-456: AGF functional requirements Issue 1, published July 2020 Migration in between FN-RG and 5G-RG Single PDU session support for FN-RG 1:1 double tag VLAN model support for 5G-RG Issue 2, scheduled to be published March 2022 (Ballot Voting in progress) Additional authentication in the form of PAP/CHAP support for FN-RGs Support for FN-RG Static IPv4 Addressing Updates to VSNP procedures; NAS and AS messaging. Fixes, clarifications and additional guidance for improved interoperability. Issue 3 It will be updated via cross-referencing other TR, for example referencing WT-458 for the AGF CUPS call flows or cross-referencing the WT from project IMS for 5G-RG 9
5G RG Support Phase 1 Integration with 5G Core control plane based on NAS/ N1 interface over Y4 Wireline CP and UP aspects for 1:1 VLAN model FWA 5G QoS TR-069/TR-181 updates to manage and operate 5G RG Phase 2 NR and LTE radio support (optional) Hybrid Access Multi-Access support with traffic bonding and access steering More TR-181 updates for enhanced CPE features Phase 3 IMS support for 5G-RGs (separate project) Support for 3GPP Procedures in the Home Ethernet services N:1 VLAN support Other (TBD) 10
FN-RG Support Phase 1 AGF basic operation for a routed FN-RG PPPoE or IPoE operations with IPv4 and/or IPv6 access Single PDU session Credential-less authentication (line ID is the coin of the realm) Phase 2 Multiple PDU sessions PAP/CHAP authentication support Potential for Phase 3 FMIF specification 11
Other Aspects Phase 1 RG-LWAC data structure key to mapping 5QI to wireline QOS Global Line ID(GLI) used for FN-RG authentication, location Other 5G operational issues, DHCP support, PEI etc. Phase 2 and Phase 3 Network exposure CUPS Corrections, and specification hardening (robustness and interoperability) Topics have emerged ad-hoc, DSCP handling, MTU issues, back off timers etc. 12
WWC Ways of Working How do we agree on the topics to progress? Use cases help We vetted a list as part of the phase 1/phase 2/phase 3 process: see 5G WWC Phase 3 How do we discuss progressing topics to eventual settlement Bi-weekly conference calls Email discussions(wwc-5g@broadband-forum.org) Tiger Teams and comments on the Tiger Team wiki pages How do we communicate proposals to settle content Contributions that socialize solutions, or propose document edits Wiki either via comment, direct editing, or capture of contribution interim conclusions How do we capture settled content Updates to the WT as a work in progress by the editors to capture agreement proposals How do we finalize the WT Straw ballot process for comments, final ballot is go/nogo sanity check
