TABC | Employee Service Awards Service Award Program TABC recognizes employees for every 5 years of cumulative service with the agency. Awards for each service milestone: Engraved plaque or paper certificate Service year coin Recognition from 10/01/2021 through 9/30/2022 2
Ruben Amora Montgomery| 35 years Licensing Division Ruben Montgomery has dedicated 35 years of service to the State of Texas with the TABC. His career has spanned three Divisions, beginning as a Clerk in Administrative Services, moving to Business Services in 1987, and transferring to the Computer Services Division (now Innovation and Technology) in 1989. Beginning as an ADP Equipment Operator, Ruben moved up the ranks to Systems Support Specialist, Network Specialist, then Data Center Operations Supervisor Team Lead. In 2007, state data centers (and employees) were contracted out to IBM, centered in San Angelo. However, Ruben chose to remain with TABC, moving to the Licensing Division as Accounts Examiner, then as License and Permit Specialist. Ruben currently serves as Licensing Investigative Analyst in the Licensing Division at Headquarters. Ruben grew up as an Air Force brat, born at Columbus AFB, MS. Moving with his parents every three to four years, his schooling moved from Oklahoma to New Hampshire; Columbus, MS; RAF Alconbury; RAF Lakenheath, England; and he graduated high school in Minot, ND. Ruben attended Mary Holmes Jr. College and Mississippi State University before beginning his four-year career in the US Air Force, serving in San Vito, Italy, before being stationed at Bergstrom AFB here in Austin. Ruben enjoys cooking and spending quality time with his wife, Teri, and their two cats Cleo and Mimosa. He is an avid sports enthusiast, traveler, and angler; and loves all genres of music, attending live concerts, and live sporting events. 3
Tiffany Ann Forister| 25 years Business Services Division Tiffany Forister began her career with the TABC on April 15, 1996, working in Seller Training and Credit Law in the Compliance Division. In 2001, Tiffany transferred to the Human Resources Division as Administrative Assistant. In 2005, she was promoted to Employment Specialist and later to Lead HR Generalist. In 2015, Tiffany transferred to the Business Services Division as Budget Analyst. She currently serves as Budget Manager. Tiffany is a graduate of the Texas Fiscal Officer s Academy and has completed the Governor s Center for Management Development Program. Tiffany has been instrumental in implementing legislative budget changes and her historical knowledge of the agency continues to be an invaluable asset. Tiffany enjoys reading and spending time with her husband, Jorge, and two daughters Aiyana, 21 and Cirina, 8. 4
Maria G. Medrano| 25 years Border Importations Division Maria G. Medrano has devoted 25 years to the State of Texas with TABC s Border Importations Division. Beginning as a Taxpayer Compliance Officer I at the Progreso Port of Entry in August 1997, Maria transferred to the Brownsville Port of Entry when the Veterans International Bridge opened in March 1999. She was promoted to Port Supervisor in Eagle Pass in 2002; then accepted a transfer back to Brownsville. She currently serves as Port Supervisor in Brownsville. Maria was born and raised in Brownsville, where she graduated from Hanna High School. She attended college at Texas Southmost College and New Orleans Community College. In 1980, she married Chief Juan Medrano, U.S. Navy, and began a new adventure. They traveled overseas and drove thousands of miles through the continental U.S. During the 14-year span before Chief Medrano retired. Maria enjoys quality time with family and friends, all of whom have supported her throughout her career. She loves spending time with her grandchildren working beside them in her garden, playing at the beach, or joining them in their favorite activity watching movies. 5 5
