Lesson 3: What organisms live in the Arctic?

Brief from Dr Ceri Lewis

Science in the Arctic

Hi, my name is Ceri and I am a scientist
working in the Arctic. Since the 1700s
humans have been changing the Earth
on a large scale.

The Arctic Ocean is like an early warning
system. We think that changes are
happening here faster than anywhere
else.

I study how these changes could affect
living things, but before starting you have
to know what lives up here and how the
living things rely on each other.

Food chains

Show food or energy going
into

organisms.

Energy from the sun goes
into algae.

Energy in the algae goes into
the clams when they eat
them.

Energy in the clams goes into
the walruses.
