The HiLumi-LHC project collaborated with various institutions to develop conceptual specifications and requirements for the MQXF, with contributions from experts in the field. The project focused on design study and received funding from the European Commission and the US LHC Accelerator Research Program. The MQXF main parameters, geometrical requirements, operational needs, field quality targets, cooling requirements, and electrical/quench protection requirements were defined in detail for the project. Discussions included setting higher values for requirements, field quality targets, dynamic effects, cooling mechanisms, and safety measures.
