High School Registration Information All students will register with the school in their boundary area through Powerschool.
Requirements for Graduation English: 4 Credits Math: 4 Credits Science: 3 Credits (Must have Biology and Earth Science/Environmental Science) Health: 0.5 Credit Physical Education: 0.5 Credit Government: 0.5 Credit Economics: 0.5 Credit (Free Enterprise or 2 years of Marketing may substitute) CTE or Fine Arts: 1 Credit Electives: 6 Credits TOTAL CREDITS: 22 World History: 1 Credit Am/AZ History: 1 Credit Foreign Language: If you are attending an in-state university, you will need 2 credits.
Graduation All students need 22 credits to graduate. .5 credit is given each semester. ELA 1= .5 credit ELA 2 = .5 credit 1 credit total for the year. If a student does not pass a semester of a class, it must be made up recommend Deer Valley Online Program or Pathways.
Freshman Schedule ELA 1-2 / ELA 1-2 H Biology / Biology H Algebra1-2 / Algebra1-2 H Health & PE (Fitness Center, Team Sports, or Racquet Sports) Elective Elective 2 Alternates ***You must discuss Honors classes with your current year teacher and your parents. Having a strong grade in English Language Arts is recommended for students who want to take a World Language.

Class Ranking The following designated courses will be used when calculating high school class rank: Freshmen: English, Math, & Science Sophomores: English, Math, Science, & Social Studies Juniors: English, Math, Science, & Social Studies Seniors: English, Math, Science, & Social Studies If students take more than 1 class in the designated area in the same semester, the highest grade will be used.
Class Registration Repeating Classes: Please see list of classes that are repeatable for credit in the Academic Planning Guide. Student Athletes: If you plan to play sports in college for a D-I or D-II level school, please review requirements at the NCAA Eligibility Center at www.eligibilitycenter.org. Student Class Loads: Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors must be enrolled in 6 DVUSD credit classes which may include off-site CTE programs, DV Online, and West-MEC programs. During your senior year, you are required to have at least 4 classes. Grade Improvement: Students who wish to improve their grade in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, or World Language courses may repeat the same course. Please see your counselor if you wish to repeat a course. Classes must be repeated through our district.

Dual Credit Classes Students can earn high school credit and college credit through Rio Salado Community College. Cost: $86 per college credit (and registration fee). Check out www.aztransfer.com to see how your credits would transfer to ASU, U of A, and NAU. Attendance: Students cannot miss more than 6 days per semester.
Summer School Incoming freshmen may only register for Health and PE (Fitness Center). Register in April at DVUSD website, http://www.dvusd.org/onlinelearning All online classes must be approved by your high school counselor prior to registering. DVUSD has a three credit limit of courses taken outside of the district
Attendance If a student misses 11 or more days per semester, the student will lose credit for the class. Do not make plans for vacation until the semester is completely over final exams take place on the very last two days of each semester.
Sweep A warning bell will ring exactly one minute prior to the tardy bell. After the tardy bell, any student that is NOT in his/her classroom on time will go to the sweep area. "SWEPT" students will remain in ISS for the entire class period under the supervision of a staff member. Any student that reports to "SWEEP" after a 10-minute period will automatically receive an unexcused absence for that class.
Class Selection The last day to change course requests is January 1st. Make sure your alternates are different than the electives you already chose. Please be mindful of your alternates because it is possible you could end up with them in your schedule. Please note, we will not make schedule changes after February 1stexcept for the following reasons: Computer Error Changes Needed to Meet Graduation Requirements Changes Required by Health Completion of an Approved Summer School, Community College, or Online Course.
