Walnut Grove School District Governing Board Study Session November 17, 2020
Arizona Revised Statute 15-469 A. If in a common school district there has been a student count of less than eight pupils between the ages of six and twenty-one years for three months during the school year, the county school superintendent may at once suspend the common school district and report the suspension and reasons to the board of supervisors at its next meeting. The board of supervisors may declare the common school district lapsed and attach the territory to one or more of the adjoining school districts .. B.
Consideration: Wickenburg Unified School District accept a section of the Walnut Grove School District due to its potential lapsing.
History of Area Champie School District Lapsed in 2007 Wickenburg received the southern portion of the district (see map) Walnut Grove School District Transportation District for at least 40 years. Received the northern portion of Champie in 2007

Status of Walnut Grove - 2020 Student Count 2.5 ADM Kindergarten, First, Third Transported and attending Kirkland Property School house located in Walnut Grove Will be assigned to adjacent property owner (current board member) Governing Board Three member board
Southern Area No students currently reside in area Minimal opportunity for future students Castle Hot Springs (see map -next slide)

Financial Implications Walnut Grove Assessed Value - $4,704,768. 2.5 elementary ADM. The estimated decrease in the primary tax rate could be $0.0492. The estimated decrease in the secondary bond rate could be $0.009. The estimated decrease in the secondary override rate could be $0.005. Approximately $20,000 in tax revenue from Castle Hot Springs Resort
