Comprehension questions for Chapter 23 How much have you understood? Remember to refer back to the text to find the answers to these questions. Here are the answers I would give the questions set. I have written my answer in blue and my explanation of how I know think this is in green. 1. Why was Grandad s house so dusty? The room hadn t been used for a long time. Page 1 2. How are Alex and Lil connected? They are brother and sister. Pages 3-4 3. Why is Alex happy to be Lil s sister? Alex says he couldn t wish for a better or a braver sister. Page 5 4. Why do you think Grandad and Dad reconnected? 5. What happened to Lord Carnarvon? He died from an infected mosquito bite. Page 9 6. What job does Alex now have? Alex now works in the Egyptian Rooms in the British Museum, writing up Professor Hanawati s findings. Page 10 7. Did you like the story? Why? I really enjoyed the story. I am interested in the Egyptians so that link was great for me. I also loved reading about the relationships of the characters in the story and how they developed and changed throughout the story. My own ideas.
