The sandstorm in the last chapter was pretty scary! Pepe seemed quite cross with the children because he linked them with you English people Egypt had been controlled by Britain until the year this story is set, so there was a little bit of resentment. Sneaky of him to send them the wrong way though! Enjoy this chapter, I hope here is less danger

Here are the answers I would give the questions set. I have written my answer in blue and my explanation of how I know think this is in green. What surprised Lil about the weather? Lil was surprised that the weather was so cool. Page 1 1. Why couldn t Tulip walk? Tulip couldn t walk because something had bitten her. Pages 2-3 2. How does Lil intend to help Tulip? Lil intended to find the boy with the camels (Pepe) to help Tulip. Page 5 3. What stung Tulip? A scorpion stung Tulip. Page 8, Pepe tells Tulip that her bite was done by a scorpion. 4. How has the area changed since the arrival of Howard Carter? Since the arrival of Howard Carter the area has changed by the local people having to have a permit to walk in the desert and they now have to be accompanied by an Egyptian official and have plenty of money. Page 9 5. Why do you think Pepe ordered them to be absolutely quiet? I think Pepe ordered them to be quiet because he was scared about the guards hearing them as they shouldn t be there. Page 12 6. Predict what the torchlight is. I think the torchlight could be other people wanting to gain access to the tombs or it could be the guards. Page 12 and my own knowledge of the story so far.
