  2. Pre- Discussion 1. What do plants require for photosynthesis to occur? Plants require carbon dioxide, water, and light for photosynthesis to occur.

  3. Pre-Discussion 2. How could you test whether or not plants actually need carbon dioxide or water or light in order for photosynthesis to occur?

  4. Pre-Discussion 3. What evidence would indicate photosynthesis had occurred?

  5. Question Is light needed for photosynthesis to occur?

  6. Variables IV: Light DV: Photosynthesis, Presence of Oxygen CV: Type of plant, Same amount of light exposure for the plant in the light, same set-up

  7. Hypothesis If a plant is kept in light, then oxygen will be produced, because the plant can perform photosynthesis. If a plant is kept in dark conditions, then no photosynthesis can occur, because the plant needs light to perform this process. This also means that no oxygen is produced.

The mouth of the tube was underwater and filled with water. 1. Gas from the air could not have entered the tube. The oxygen was produced as a result of leaving the plant in light and collected in the tube as the plant released the oxygen.
