  1. Light Light Shiny objects and sources of light

  2. Do you remember that you need a source of light to see things? Sources of light are things that create light. Like the sun, a light bulb, or a fire.

  3. Some things sometimes look like they are a source of light, but really the light is coming from somewhere else. Where is the light coming from in this photo? Is the sea a source of light? NO! The light is coming from the sun! The light is reflecting off the sea.

  4. Things that reflect light back are not sources of light. We say they are shining. A lot of metal things are shiny. Can you think of a shiny metal object that reflects light?

  6. Things that are smooth will reflect the light back in the same direction. That s why you can see your face in the mirror but not in the sea. Can you think of a time when you can see your face in water?

  13. What about the moon? Is the moon a source of light?

  14. See if you can spot some shiny objects in your house.
