Insights from Young Scientists on How Temperature Affects Bird Behavior

A group of young scientists known as the Smart Birds conducted a study on how temperature influences bird behavior. Through observations recorded in the morning and late afternoon, they found that birds were most active when the temperature ranged between 71-90 degrees Fahrenheit. The study revealed that the majority of birds were observed walking or flying, with perching being the second most common behavior. The participants reflected on their experiences, expressing joy in learning about birds and the impact of environmental factors on their behavior.

2. How does temperature affect the behavior of birds? Participants observed birds for 10 minutes twice a day: in the morning and in the late afternoon Participants recorded Outside temperature in degrees Fahrenheit the kind and number of birds observed The behavior of the birds observed

Conclusions: Temperature does seem to influence when birds are most active The greatest number of birds were observed when the temperature was between 81-90 degrees Fahrenheit The second most number of birds were observed when the temperature was between 71-80 degrees Fahrenheit The greatest number of birds observed were walking or flying The second most commonly observed behavior was perching

13. Reflections of the SMART BIRDS young scientists: Watching birds was my favorite thing, You get to see new colors, learn the names and you always learn new things! Arya I like the numbers the most, when I add the numbers and substrate the numbers. I also liked watching the birds. Varni I liked watching the birds, and seeing how the time of day and the temperature affected the birds. I changed my name to Phoebe Bird Watcher. Phoebe I learned the difference bird types around my house and it was fun because I got to observe different things and I got to see an egg in the nest. Thayne
