  2. A total of 3 private institutions submitted 120 private candidates for the CAPE exams in 2019. 85 females and 35 males. Private candidates attempted 18 double unit subjects and 6 single unit subjects. A total of 42 out of 67 units offered by CXC. For the first time, private candidates sat Building & Mechanical Engineering Drawing (BMED) U1&2, Digital Media U1, Financial Services Studies U1 and Spanish U1&2

  5. 85 or 70.8% of the private candidates passed the CAPE exams with either grades 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5. Dominica s overall performance at the CAPE level is 74.8% which is below the Regional Average of 87%.

  6. 10 secondary schools submitted candidates for 2019 CCSLC exams. 704 school candidates. 380 males and 324 females. Exams were done in 6 different subject areas with schools attempting 2 6 subjects

  10. Dominica Community High School continues to excel in English A. Castle Bruce Secondary School showed outstanding performance in CCSLC English A and CCSLC Mathematics with a 12% increase in performance in English A when compared to 2018. 560 students (91.2%) have attained Mastery or Competent levels in the 2019 CCSLC exams.

  11. 15 Secondary schools submitted candidates for CSEC exams. 786 school candidates. 7 more students than last year when 779 students sat the examination. 374 private candidates compared to 197 in 2018 1160 total wrote the CSEC examinations in 33 subject areas.

  13. 3 schools showed marked improvement in their overall performances. Orion Academy (40% to 85.7%) , Goodwill Secondary School (47.7% to 58.8%) and Pierre Charles Secondary (67.7% to 77.9%). 309 or 39.3% of the candidates passed 5 or more subjects including Mathematics and English. 515 or 65.5% of the candidates passed 5 or more subjects with either grades 1, 2 or 3. 46 students from 13 Secondary schools obtained 6 or more grade ones in the CSEC exams

  26. A total of 7 students of the Goodwill Secondary school were entered for the 2019 CVQ in Garment Production. 2 males and 5 females All 7 candidates are deemed Competent in CVQ Garment Production Level 1 and will be awarded by CXC.
