OVERVIEW OF HIGHLIGHTS: MAY 2019 MAY 2020 Annual Report 2019-2020 Commission on Aging San Mateo County Created greater awareness of the Commission Helped our publics become better informed about available resources and how to access Advocated for new services for older adults in the County, especially for those needing transportation and for the needs of Middle Income Older Adults Continued to educate the Commission about Local, County, State and National events/actions that relate to support our Mission and advocacy

STARTING POINT Annual Report 2019-2020 Commission on Aging San Mateo County In 2018, two-year goals for standing committees were set at a Commission planning retreat: Continued: Resource Access Committee (RAC) Continued: Transportation Committee New: Middle Income Seniors Opportunities (MISO) Committee Goals completed in 2018-2019 reported in May 2019

TRANSPORTATION COMMITTEE Annual Report 2019-2020 Commission on Aging San Mateo County Goal: Make recommendations for improvement of the RediWheels eligibility process Completed Goal: Assess customer satisfaction measures for transportation offered by SMC providers who receive OAA funding Continuing Goal: Be informed and action-oriented for local transportation issues and initiatives Continuing; Supported cities for development of Older Adult Ride Programs and Age-Friendly Cities Transportation Inclusion Goal: Assess on-demand transportation services currently available, including accessible services On-going Added in Q1-2020: Review of transportation options and related preparedness during Emergencies

MIDDLE INCOME SENIORS OPPORTUNITIES (MISO) Annual Report 2019-2020 Commission on Aging San Mateo County Goal: Determine how the County is serving and not serving the needs of the Middle Income Senior Continuing to determine how San Mateo County is serving/not serving needs of older adults Goal: Evaluate how the quality of life can be better for the Middle Income Senior in SM County Identifying, educating and advocating for programs that help meet needs; identify costs/consequences

GOING FORWARD Annual Report 2019-2020 Commission on Aging San Mateo County Set CoA goals for July 2020 June 2022 Review which goals to continue; What new to set Use survey results from LocalAAS 2020-2021 Area Plan Top 10 Issues as a key resource Continue to educate Commissioners regarding California s Master Plan for Aging and use it as a resource for our work Advocate for improved and new services for older adults of San Mateo County

GOING FORWARD Annual Report 2019-2020 Commission on Aging San Mateo County Researching and building relationships and collaborations with City and other older adult programs RAC and AAS s staff collaborating to develop an outreach plan to educate providers, older adults, and the public about services and implementing that plan Researching and implementing how the CoA can support older adults in disasters
